1 | The Rock of Israel in the Wilderness? | Gen 28:18 | Jim Estes | 177454
Hi Searcher, You wrote: “His vow (vv 22-22) is trying to make a deal with God.” And 20 years later the Lord remembered that vow in Genesis 31:13, “I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you vowed a vow to Me. Now arise, get out from this land and return to your native land.” You wrote: “Again it is a "spiritual rock" not phyiscal. Be careful how you read a verse ... understand the context.” You did not answer the question that I asked. I fully understand that 1 Corinthians 10:4 refers to a “spiritual Rock” and that Rock is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is not a literal stone. There is a literal stone from which the Israelites were given drink during their time in the wilderness and that literal rock is clearly symbolic of Jesus Christ. Scripture records two instances were the Lord supernaturally provided water to the Israelites from a literal rock. Is it the same stone that Jacob anointed and named “the house of God?” If not, then why did Jacob-Israel refer to Jesus Christ as “the Rock of Israel” as recorded in Genesis 49:24 and for what purpose did Jacob anoint or dedicate this stone? 2 | The Rock of Israel in the Wilderness? | Gen 28:18 | CDBJ | 177462
Hi Jim E, You seem to be pretty good at figuring things out, from reading your previous posts. Considering the total population that came out of Egypt, men, woman, and children, including all the cattle added in: approximately how large a “pipe” or hole, would you think it would have taken to supply enough water for all of Israel’s needs? It sure wasn’t a trickle coming out of that rock, as most people have pictured in their minds; I’m guessing a minimum of a 30” pipe or larger and really gushing at full tilt! Have fun, CDBJ |

Hi CDBJ, I have no idea, but that is an excellent question! I just know that the Lords' arm is not too short! (Numbers 11:23) Jim |
