3 | Isaac - Abraham's "only" son? | Gen 22:2 | Mommapbs | 112765 | ||
Because Abraham believed God, he obeyed. His obedience is recorded. And although he did not have to give up his son, for God provided the sacrifice, it was Abraham's faith (as demonstrated by his willingness to sacrifice) that God commended. How much faith do we have in God . . . are we willing to sacrifice like Abraham? God calls us to present our bodies as "living sacrifices" . . . we align our will with His . . .this might mean we have to "give up" something or perhaps even someone. How can we encourage one another to be obedient to God's claim on our lives? (We were bought with a price - God owns us IF we are IN Christ. 1 Cor 6:19-20) Why do we put up such a fuss when He wants to use us as HE purposes? I suspect that even as mature believers we haven't completely understood that the heart of God is FOR US! We are in the middle of a battle and there are so many distractions that lull us into a false sense of security . . . when you think you are standing firm, beware! (1 Cor 10:12) What is our love quotient FOR GOD? (For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments - 1 John 5:3) Well, these are just some thoughts that this verse has prompted.
