1 | What are the birds in Job 39:13 ? | Job 39:13 | Searcher56 | 19498 | ||
TyRex, Young's Literal Translation says, "The wing of the rattling ones exulteth, Whether the pinion of the ostrich or hawk." King James has peacocks and ostrich. The word for the first bird is 'alac (Strong's 05965), which means to rejoice. there is another word for peacock, tukkiy (Strong's 08500). The ostrich is nowtsah (Strong's 05133), is translated feathers elsewhere. I hope I didn't confused you, too much, Searcher |

Greetings T Rex! I did some quick checking. The problem seems to be that the orignal Hebrew words did not really refer to any bird in particular. However, in the context, they clearly do. Thus, each translation differs somewhat. I checked the Septuagint and it translates the Hebrew words as Ostrich and Stork. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
