comayagua Hi and welcome. I started to respond three times and quit, but I just couldn't walk away. While Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins have written profusely on the end times like their “Left Behind” series. One would be safer reading Dr. Stanley Horton, Dr David Jeremiah, John MacArthur than these two. I have read the book you mentioned and found it lacking in many ways. They make assumptions or state their opinion as fact instead of telling the reader the alternate readings or understandings of a particular passage. While they pass the work off as a “text” book it is merely one man’s (in this case two men :-)) opinion stated dogmatically. EdB |

Ed: Having read the entire Left Behind Series and the Bible, I have to agree with you. For an introduction to why the Left Behind books and film are dangerously off in their theology, go to the following website: www.signministries.org/articles/topic28_leftbehindreview.htm While it is true that not every last second of the film is exactly like the book, there is little difference in the sequence of events -- or the doctrinal errors -- found in both the book and the film. I quote the first paragraph of the following article: LEFT BEHIND: A Review of the Latest End Times Film by Dirk Eichhorst "It is troubling that Hollywood often produces films that are blatantly anti-Christian. Even more troubling is when Christians with good intentions produce a film that tries to tell the truth, but is dangerously off in its theology. LEFT BEHIND is the latest film that tackles eschatology (the study of end times), and claims to be biblical. Yet the film misinterprets and misapplies significant portions of prophetic Scripture. Can this kind of misleading teaching in a film potentially do more harm than a blatantly anti-Christian message?" (www.signministries.org/articles/topic28_leftbehindreview.htm) kalos |
