1 | Why effects of forgiven sins? | Hebrews | brazos | 174499
When we accept God's gift of salvation through faith in the death, burial and ressurection of Jesus Christ, God's son, our sins are forgiven. Our sins are blotted out. Our sins are cast as far as the east is from the west. Though our sins were scarlet, we are made white as snow. All our sins, past, present and future are covered by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. This is all true, yes? Then the question I have is why are there still effects of our sins? Such as God still disciplines us. We quench the power of the Holy Spirit. Our sins still have repercussions. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
2 | Why effects of forgiven sins? | Hebrews | lionheart | 174500
brazos, Greetings. You are quite correct in what you just stated. The sin is forgiven. That doesnt necessarily mean we escape the consequences of what we have done in the past. A workable example would be the case of a young lady named Karla Fay Tucker who was executed by the state of Texas a number of years ago.She sat on death row for quite a number of years.During this time God worked major changes in her heart and life and at the time of her death she left this world in the full assurence that she was a disciple of Jesus Christ. She had been forgiven but still had to deal with the consequences of her sin. This example is somewhat extreme but it offers us a clear picture. Now I dont say there havent been times God hasnt spared us the consequences because I believe God has shown us all much grace at various times in life where consequences are concerned. But not always,he will allow us to suffer things to draw us closer to Him and to shape and mold our character. Hebrews 12:5-11. Even as disciples of Jesus Christ we will still blow it,thank God for 1 John 1:9. This is a passage of scripture that bares application everyday. Hope this helps. In Christ, lionheart. PS: There is no such thing as cheap grace. |
