1 | Meaning and significant of pot Heb.9:4 | Hebrews | Emmaus | 88242
bunmi, "(the golden pot that had manna,Aaron's rod that budded and the table(ts) of the covenaht...") These were the contents of the Ark of the Covenant (Ex 3:1-5; 25:10-16; 16:33; Num 17:8-10; Deut 10:3-5), which was lost about the time of the Babylonian Exile and never recovered. Hebrews 9 is a contrast between the Heavenly Liturgy and its earthly shadow the Temple Liturgy which continued until the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. The heavenly Liturgy is still real with Jesus as our eternal High Priest always interceding for us and offering his sacrifice to the Father. If you read Acts you will see that after the Resurrection and Ascension the Apostles and early Jewish Christian still participated in the Temple activities. Emmaus |

2 | Offering? Or having offered... | Hebrews | gracefull | 88246
Hi Emmaus, If you would, please give further comment to the statement below. Specifically offering (present tense) his sacrifice to God. "The heavenly Liturgy is still real with Jesus as our eternal High Priest always interceding for us and offering his sacrifice to the Father." According to Hebrews 10 Jusus presented Himself once and sat down... there is no further offering sacrifice. Although we do have to ask for forgiveness when we sin, the sacrifice for that sin was made already. I know the Holy Spirit Old Covenant Hebrews 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. New Covenant Hebrews 10:10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, 13 waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET. 14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. |

gracefull, Everthing is in the eternal present to God who is not subject to time. Jesus is the sacrifice who sits forever in the presence of the Father, so that his sacrifice , which is Himself, is ever in the presence of the Father, as the Lamb in Revelation 5. I am sorry if my phrasing has disturbed you, but the sacrifice of Jesus is still efficaious even today as it was efficaious for the saints of the Old Testament. It is the one sacrifice. If Revelation 4 and 5 does not depict a heavenly Liturgy with all the elements found in shadow in the earthly Temple, I don't know how else to describe it. Emmauws |

4 | Offering? Or having offered... | Hebrews | gracefull | 88249
I agree that the blood is continually effective, but offered only once. I believe this is important because as humans we need to clearly understand that His sacrifice was once, final and total. "If Revelation 4 and 5 does not depict a heavenly Liturgy with all the elements found in shadow in the earthly Temple, I don't know how else to describe it." I agree that the earthly tabernacle was patterned after the Heavenly. In Revelation 4 and 5 I do not see the repeated application of the blood on the alter. Purhaps you could direct me to a verse or verses which you derive this conclusion. There is a repeated worship of the Lamb, but the application of the sin offering according to Hebrews 10 was only once..for all. God bless |

graceful, "In Revelation 4 and 5 I do not see the repeated application of the blood on the alter. Purhaps you could direct me to a verse or verses which you derive this conclusion. There is a repeated worship of the Lamb, but the application of the sin offering according to Hebrews 10 was only once..for all.." The altar represents God when the High Priest appl;ied the blood to it. So the Blood of Christ is offered once and eternally to the Father. I do not see a "repeated application of the blood to the altar." I only see a repaeted application of its merits to our sinful selves while we unlike God are bound in time. I also assume you still worship the Lord who is the Lamb of God. This is ongoing I presume eternally for the saved. Don't you? I do not believe that always or ongoing is the same as "repeated" in the pejorative sense that you imply, as if you are implying that I believe the one sacrifice of Christ is insufficient, which I do not beleieve. I beleieve it is once for all but eternal in significance and application. No, I do not believe that Christ is sacrificed over and over again. But we do "plead the blood" over and over again for the forgiveness of our sins and for our salvation. I hope that puts your mind at rest. Emmaus |

Got it... Repeated and Ongoing are not the same, that was all I was getting at. I am a little particular about certain word choices. Youg believers can get really confused by things like that. Thanks for the chat! God bless |
