1 | Serious "option" for believers! | Ephesians | CDBJ | 194495
REDEMPTION is a “provision” of God and without it there is no spiritual life. Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 1 Cor. 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: FORGIVNESS on the other hand is an “option” for the believer and without it one can’t progress in his spiritual life. Ephes. 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The question is: What grieves the Holy Spirit even though we, as believers, are sealed by Him? I believe that failure to “understand” and “implement” this critical doctrine is one of the largest factors that causes believers to remain as infants in the Christian way of life! CDBJ |

Shalom. Grieve means to cause sorrow, cause to feel pain, etc. As for Eph.4:30, to me it would seem that doing anything that goes against Jesus, would cause the Holy Spirit to grieve. Unrepented sin in a persons life is an example. Especially doing something wrong, while at the same time, knowing the Holy Spirit is telling you to stop. God bless, michael

Hi Michael, Do you think it would be safe to say then that any and all sin grieves the Spirit? If this is the case what should one do to reverse the problem and stop the grief? CDBJ |

4 | Serious "option" for believers! | Ephesians | michael03 | 194502
Shalom,CDBJ. Yes, it would be safe to say that. That is only my opinion, going by the definition of grieve. Right now, I am reading in 2 Tim. Now 2 Tim. 1:7 is " For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, love, andof a sound mind." Well, the Holy Spirit is that, plus so much more. Since the Holy Spirit is sinless, I would say any sin grieves the Spirit. Unless there is something particular that Jesus is talking about. So if you have some knowledge on that , please let me know. I am still learning the fullness of God, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. God bless, michael

Hello Michael, Grieving the Spirit and quenching the Spirit are two sides of the same coin. Ephes. 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. We, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, all have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit but that doesn’t insure us that He is always in control. Even as a new creation “in” Christ, with a new nature, we still have an old sin nature residing in our bodies. When we give in to the dictates of our old sin nature, and sin as a result, the Holy Spirit is not filling us in our new nature’s spiritual walk; thus the need to be filled with the Spirit; He resides always but He doesn’t always fill. Ephes. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; The exercise of 1 John 1:9 accomplishes this task and causes the believer to function under God’s perfect protocol. Any believer at any moment of time is either filled with the Spirit or they are out of fellowship and under the control of their old sin nature and they need to “constantly” use 1 John 1:9. God is “always faithful” and He will do the same thing every time “IF” we will name our sins to Him. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It is “possible” for one to be in and out of fellowship, or filled with the Spirit, hundreds of times a day! One is indwelt but once for always and that at the point of faith in Jesus at salvation by the grace of God. CDBJ |

Shalom brother. Knowing that as humans, with a sinful nature, it would seem that as long as we are here in the body, the grieving of the Holy Spirit will be an almost constant thing, then. Because of Romans 7:21, "evil is always present." So how would it be possible to live in the body, and not grieve the Spirit? God bless, michael
7 | Serious "option" for believers! | Ephesians | Val | 194570
2 Pet 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. A further study of the word godliness tells us to pursue godliness so it is an ongoing continuous action. |
