1 | Where or what scripture says that He doe | Acts | CDBJ | 197900 | ||
Greetings and Merry Christmas, Try to understand the object for the healing and the miracles that took place. The completed Bible wasn’t finished yet and the healings opened the eyes of those that witnessed these acts and as a result the Apostles were able to present the message of Christ. It was like having credentials from God as to who the Apostles represented. Paul had the gift of healing but even he came a point in time when this gift ceased to function as evidenced by the following verse. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. Today with all those that “claim” to have this particular gift, how many of them do you know, that are over 200 years old? God can still heal all that He desires with out the use men and, "He will" accomplish His divine intended purpose! CDBJ |

AC 2:38 Peter said to them, “ Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. AC 2:39 “For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” RO 11:29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. RO 12:6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; RO 12:7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; RO 12:8 or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. 1CO 7:7 Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that. 1CO 12:4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 1CO 12:5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 1CO 12:6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 1CO 12:7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1CO 12:8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 1CO 12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 1CO 12:10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 1CO 12:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. 1PE 4:10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. |

I'm sorry, but it appears to me that you only supported what I have read in Acts. Ok, I am very greatful for your efforts, however, I do think no one really has the answer. I have asked for scriptural proof that the Holy Spirit has ceased to operate in our chuches as I have read in Acts. It appears folk have been taught not to accept this clear presentation of the Holy Spirit. I am no expert at anything but if it is in the Word I need to believe it. Thanks for your help. |

Merry Christmas! Simply put my friend, there is no place in the Bible that says the Holy Spirit has quit moving or working. That doesn't mean that everyone who claims to have a particular gift really does, or that everyone who claims to be used by the Holy Spirit really is, but there is no Scriptural reason to say that God does not still work through the church through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
