Jesus's disciples didn't understand the plan of God the father, which was for jesus to die on the cross for our sins. They didn't want him to die. They didn't see the spiritual outcome of what was going to happen. One of the Devils biggest misakes was when he had Jesus killed. Because he had no sin in him and he was a perfect sacifice. Animal sacifice's only covered the sin of the people. But Jesus's sacifice of his body would cleanse the sins of the people of God forever through his death. But Peter didn't see it that way. So he rebuked Jesus. Jesus's then called Peter Satan because he was thinking in his flesh and not his spirit. | ||||||

Feet washer, I just wanted to understand you correctly when you say "One of the Devils biggest misakes was when he had Jesus killed" ? Not to nitpick, but... Theologically, God was responsible according to Acts 2:23 "this Man,delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death." I will agree that Satan was involved with Jesus eventual crucifixion. The gospels mention satan entering the heart of Judas Iscariot, but thats about it. Your right on the button with Acts 2:23. 1 Corinthians 2:6-9 makes it even clearer. In Christ, lionheart |

I might (for the sake of the argument) say that Satan's "big huge" mistake was letting Christ be crucified and NOT being involved at that point. His dirty deed was accomplished in Eden. Matthew 16:21-23 shows Jesus telling the disciples God's plan that He be killed and then raised to life, and in verse 22 he rebukes Peter, who says that this could never happen, by calling him Satan (who is ever interested in messing up God's plan for redemption of man). However, Luke does mention that Satan entered Judas (22:3).....so it's likely I'm wrong (although nothing ever happens that God doesn't allow and this may have been part of the bigger picture). What's important is not quarrelling about matters which don't matter, but rather what we ourselves do with the knowledge and belief we have of Christ's death, resurrection, and the inpouring of the Holy Spirit. |
