Sorry didn't mean to be offensive and I don't think of "Gee" as taking the Lord's name in vain..I don't know how you use it..but I think Geewhiz. and Searcher...I was writing to someone who just answered me with a "Nope".
2 | Does Jeremiah 14 and 15 relate to U.S. | Jeremiah | Radioman | 19284
Ihavefavor: At times, we all use words without realizing or knowing the actual meaning or origin of them. I do not condemn you. I merely point out how the dictionary defines the word "gee." "*gee* (interjection) Used as a mild expletive or exclamation of surprise. [Alteration of JESUS.]" (American Heritage Dictionary) |

If you can get really picky about it, any expletive can be said to be the same thing in some form or fashion. I think as long as you don't actually say it, you're OK. Otherwise we couldn't say anything. :)

Dear Norrie, Greetings in Jesus' name! As on that used as many expletives as possible in a previous life (son of a soldier), I can say that it is difficult to stop. But maybe that is the point! Stop saying so much. :-) We may call them exclamations or even expletives, but if the tone is a curse, it is not pleasing to God. Friend, I understand your concern about being too picky, but if we think about all of the 'abbreviated' curses and complaints that spill forth from our lips, most would be stillborn. On another related topic, at what age would you allow children to express themselves? Is this what we want in the next generation of Christians? Not me! In my position as an educator, I can clearly see that these 'expressions' do not release stress, but encourage it! Teaching self-control to kids, especially self-control of the tongue allows it to be of more use for the Lord, IMHO. I know that many will cry 'legalism!' That is your prerogative. But remember: "Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few." Ecclesiastes 5:2 NASB. Peace and wisdom in Christ Jesus, charis |

Ok...let me rephrase my question....Do you think these occurances that took place on Sept 11th (that just happen to be in the U.S.) have anything to do with what scripture states as the "End Times". Think carefully now! The Lord said some will have their eyes blinded and will not be able to see what is going on around them. I believe we are seeing the rise of the anti-christ already. Anybody got their eyes open?...and if the U.S. is NOT mentioned in scripture...then what? Total destruction? or do you think we are just kept out of it? come on people....we are believers in Jesus Christ and His word tells us what to look for...anybody else looking?

Ihavefavor You evidently have a theory why don’t you share it? As I and many other forum contributors have said we don’t see the US in Bible prophecy and especially Sept 11. However you apparently do, tell us where and be specific. Maybe you have something to teach us but until you tell us what it is we remain “blind” as you put it. As for a reason why the US not in Biblical Prophecy I believe something happens and we are no longer major players. We must then ask the question, “Why?” There could be many reasons. The US could be destroyed or rendered helpless by war, internal war, economic disaster, natural disaster, collapse of civilization, anarchy, and etc. Or the US could by this time have adopted a policy of non inference, isolationism, or total disarmament. We also could very much be included but referred to in general terms of a member of the Antichrist’s confederation. Right now we see through the glass dimly but as the time approaches and it is coming fast we will understand more and more. EdB |
