1 | Are Modern Prophets Always Accurate ? | Job | Jensen | 32260
Dear EProphet….Your gentleness is disarming. And your gentleness is alarming! Uncle Screwtape is proud of your effort. You are not claiming to be a prophet?…. but your screen name is EProphet? DT 18:21 “You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.”....Or, in other words, disregard anything he/she says and any advice he/she gives except that which is clearly based in Scripture. You Wrote… “You will find no spirit of fear in the Words of a true prophet. If it comes from God, it is of love.” I do not want to split hairs but… JNH 3:10 “When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.”…sounds like a threat of destruction. And you will say “A threat based in love” no doubt. Well perhaps. AND ALSO….. 1KI 20:36 “So the prophet said, "Because you have not obeyed the LORD, as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you." And after the man went away, a lion found him and killed him.”… Dear friend…“…as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you”….is also from love? AND ALSO…. 1KI 20:41 Then the prophet quickly removed the headband from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets. 42 He said to the king, "This is what the LORD says: “You have set free a man I had determined should die. Therefore it is your life for his life, your people for his people. " AND MORE……. 2CH 21:12-15 “…..This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ……14 So now the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow. 15 You yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.” "….If that were said by a modern prophet would you consider it Words with a “spirit of fear”? AND JUST ONE MORE OF MANY, MANY MORE…. 2CH 28:9-11 But a prophet of the LORD named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army when it returned to Samaria. He said to them……..Send back your fellow countrymen you have taken as prisoners, for the LORD's fierce anger rests on you." Anger not Love. And finally you wrote, (and this takes the award for chutzpah) “However, a prophet may enlighten you on things in your life, or their life. Example; if a prophet came to you and said, "Jensen, there is something in your spirit that isn't right", they may sit down and talk to you about something specific in your life.” DT 18: 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." ….and surely the false prophet will die. There is not much difference between your example and a palm reader, if any. Perhaps a better example is needed :-) You Wrote… “Pay close attention to the events in the world. We are in the last days.” And …. “There are mighty things to happen in this last generation.” No….We are not in the last days. People have been claiming the last days since Acts 2:42. The Biblical fact (Jesus Words) is that no one knows….Not even you. In closing, be happy that you are saved by Grace. Avoid claims that you believe enhance your own position among men in His Church. He will not care...and will find humor in your claim because you are still His. It reminds me of those who babble and claim it is the Gift of Tongues. There claim is made by way of peer pressure only. But beware that you are not put to death for leading others astray. Really! God Bless….Jensen, in search of a true Prophet of God. |

2 | Truly searching for a prophet? | Job | charis | 32341
Dear Jensen, Peace to you in the name of Jesus! Are you truly searching for a prophet? What do you want to hear? The weather report for next Christmas, perhaps? :-) Ranting about wrath to come? That God loves you? Or maybe the details of the 'two witnesses' or the 'seals' or the 'horsemen?' What about the exact date, time and location of Jesus' return. Brother, what is is you want to hear from a true prophet? I you ask me what I want to hear, I would say that I want to hear the word of God, living and active, separating wisdom and foolishness, the true and the false. This word would be edifying, exhorting and consoling, and would serve not only me, but all of His church. I already know much about the future days, they are written in the Bible. But I would like to know how I am to serve God and His people, and maybe where and to whom. God may quicken His servants to give holy guidance in these areas. Then again, maybe He will not, at least not yet. If you think about it, every shepherd should have at least a little sensitivity to the mind of God for the flock entrusted him. Is this not prophesy, and desirable, and pleasing to God? Friend, I sense a frustration, maybe even an anger in your post to EProphet. Yet I find little in his post that is offensive. Your final warning was either too melodramatic, or just plain rude and uncalled for. I guess only you know which. (unless, of course, I am a prophet! :-)) You may want to come to Yokohama sometime in your quest! Peace and joy in Christ Jesus, charis |

3 | Truly searching for a prophet? | Job | Ray | 32487
Hi charis, May I enter in here as a capitalist observer?:) I see Jensen searching for a Prophet in the ending of his post. I agree with you charis that there is only one Prophet, Priest, and King. If Jensen is looking for a perfect prophet he will not find one for there is none righteous, no not one. There will be no one that he can call a Prophet and no one should claim to be a Prophet for there is one Leader, one Father, one Teacher and that is our triune God. It is interesting to note in the gospel of John the use of capitalization for the word Prophet in regard to John the baptist and Jesus. This is one example of the need of contrast by the use of capitalization. John was considered a prophet, but the translations need to point out the Prophet, Jesus more clearly, I believe. For instance, John 4:44 could very well read, "For Jesus Himself testified that a Prophet has no honor in His own country." The Samaritans knew that this One was indeed the Savior of the world, but His own people did not. From the heart, Ray |

4 | Truly searching for a prophet? | Job | Jensen | 32822
Dear Ray....You wrote ..... "If Jensen is looking for a perfect prophet he will not find one for there is none righteous, no not one".....to which I reply....I am not looking for a perfect prophet since I agree there are none. But our God IS perfect. I am looking for the prophet whose prophecies in the name of God are perfect. If they are not perfect (accurate) then they are NOT from a perfect God. Then the prophet should not be listened to on his next prophecy or, in this case, his next guess. Simple. Easy to understand. No equivocation. I think it is the only way to bring unity in this area of our Faith. Thanks for your consideration of my position. God Bless....Jensen |
