1 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | Mom of 5 girls | 192554
I would actually disagree with this. Salvation is more than just a prayer uttered in a moment of conviction. Even the demons believe and shudder. Jesus said ,"If you love me obey my commandments. John 14:23 What you described is a false doctrine being taught by churches of easy grace. Please do not misunderstand me. I do not believe that salvation is by works or that we can lose our salvation. But what I am saying that Christianity is a lifestyle not just a belief system. That is why 2 Peter 1:10 says, "Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall," |

2 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | BradK | 192561
Hello mom of 5 girls, Possibly I'm not following your thoughts on this? What is "false" about what Larry quoted? It was almost a direct citation of Rom. 10:9; "...that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (NASB) The thief on the cross "uttered in a moment of conviction" (Luke 23:42,43). Is there someting missing or inherently "easy" about this verse? As I understood it, nothing was said or implied that would denote an easy-believism here. God paid the ultimate price in sending His Son to die for the sin of mankind. Faith is simply our response to what God has said and done (Heb. 11:1,6). Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

3 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | lionheart | 192580
Brad, Hey brother. Maybe this will help clear things up in terms of what mom of 5 girls was saying. Confess- homologeo- To confess, acknowledge, agree, admit, declare. This can be a profession of alligiance. Now in light of the greek usage of confess I gotta agree with mom of 5 in principle. We do have allot of churches out there that do teach and preach a cheap, easy form of grace. I think you and I can agree there is no such animal. So where ones salvation is concerned it's not a matter of a little prayer as she was saying and I wont say that Larry was inferring that either. Hebrews 11:1,6 you are right right on the mark. We are also told that without faith we cant please God. When someone speaks of love and obedience they are correct. Without faith neither one would happen. I think Romans was Paul's most definitive writing on becoming a christian. So when it comes to this subject Paul has laid some rock solid ground work. In Him, lionheart |

4 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | skccab | 192584
Hey Brad, I agree with Lionheart. There is one church I know of in Tx. who's folks go out and they will go thru a drive-thru and ask the attendant to pray with them. The attendant agrees and they do a 3-4 line quickie "sinner's prayer," give them a brochure, and then add that person to their "souls won for Jesus" list!! Can you believe that? And they tell the person that he is now saved, too. That person certainly can't be said to have prayed in earnest, could he? Blessings Cheri |
