1 | ESV Bible evaluations? | Leviticus | EdB | 146021 | ||
I personally prefer other versions. When it first came out I had high hopes for it and I still enjoy reading it from time to time. However I don’t like some of the choices that were made. I don’t care for the them messing with words like “any man” translating it to read “anyone” . I realize it is probably a more exact translation but I think everyone understood that “any man” in context really meant “anyone”. To me it seems to be an effort to bow to pressure that I find is uncalled for and often falsely perceived. Probably my biggest complaint is I prefer to capitalize deity. To me it a matter of showing proper respect one that God certainly deserves especially in his own book. The ESV translators chose not to do this and I find it wanting. Lastly there are a few passages, and I’m sorry I can’t recall a good example, that I don’t care for how the verse is rendered. I much prefer the rendering in KJV, NKJV, or NASB. I certainly wouldn’t fail to recommend the ESV but my Bible of choice is another translation. EdB |
