If Abraham believed that God would raise Isaac up after his sacrifice, then the case for him being a faithful servant, ready to sacrifice his son for God is completely lost. If God was all powerful, surely he could do something to protect his people without killing the enemies? This seems to reek of favoritism- and the crusades. I have the impression that the murder of those two nations was simple and pure punishment. So in a sense- are you saying that God does approve of murder- as long as it helps ensure that his plans for us- the survivors of history- stay intact? |
