1 | God sanctions murder of the innocent? | Genesis | Makarios | 161849
Greetings Rats Feet, When God told Abraham to go and sacrifice Isaac to Him in Genesis 22, He was testing Abraham's faith, to see if he could sacrifice his only son to the Lord, even though He was promised that His descendants would scatter the earth and he loved his son so dearly and close to his heart. God does not sanction or support the murder of innocent people. In the example of Abraham and Isaac, we see somewhat of a parallel in the fact that God did not withhold even His own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, from crucixion and death, even death on a cross, so that we humans would have a way to be saved. Blessings to you, Makarios |

2 | Murder of the Innocents? | Genesis | Rats Feet | 161852
THanks makarios- but when God was testing Abraham's faith, it WAS the right thing for abraham to kill isaac right? what kind of God would ask that of us? It is true that God called Jesus to die- but Jesus was a willing participant. what about the Old Testament Wars where God commanded the Israelis to kill everyone, including children and women. |

3 | Murder of the Innocents? | Genesis | Makarios | 161859
Greetings Rats Feet, I believe that Isaac was also a willing participant to be sacrificed. The Bible does not say that Isaac threw a temper tantrum and then stormed off after Abraham said that he would be the sacrifice.. But it must have broken Abraham's heart to tell him. Perhaps Abraham believed that God would raise him from the dead! But in all things, Abraham believed God, and he obeyed Him. As far as the Old Testament wars, the Lord commanded the Israelites to overrun the pagan, idol worshipping societies that were inhabiting the land that God had promised to Abraham. God wanted to wipe every trace of that kind of idolatry from existence, which was due punishment for their sinful ways. Blessings to you, Makarios |

4 | Difference between Moses and BinLaden? | Genesis | Rats Feet | 162019
Will you please give me the Biblical reference for Abraham telling Isaac that he would be the sacrifice? I cannot find it anywhere in Genesis 22. Furthermore, if the only way we can tell whether something is truly from God is whether or not it is ethical, if God does command for murder, then how can we know what is true? What is there to stop Osama Bin Laden from saying that he was correct in the Sept. 11th event if God could also command Moses to kill the men, women, and children in the kingdoms of Heshbon and Og on God's command (Deut. 3:6). According to Bin Laden, Americans are also leading very sinful lives. |

5 | Difference between Moses and BinLaden? | Genesis | caldog | 162026
Abraham did not tell Isaac he would be the sacrifice. During the early days of Israel, God ordered the destruction of many nations. These were His judgments against those nations. We don't often agree with God what is ethical. Osama Bin Laden has his opinion. I would'nt expect to be able to reason with him over anything. Yes, Americans are leading very sinfull lives. more importantly, americans are turning away from God. It would'nt surprise me if God was planning to judge america. So far He's shown great restraint. |

6 | Bin Laden God's hand in justice? | Genesis | Rats Feet | 162031
I don't think you quite get my point. Are you agreeing that Bin Laden is God's hand in justice then? If God's commands aren't ethical- or at least not deemed ethical by us, a.k.a. murder, then who's to say that a random mass murderer isn't a prophet of God?
7 | Bin Laden God's hand in justice? | Genesis | caldogkcaldog | 162040
No, I don't know how or if God is going to bring the USA into judgement. When you look at the OT you see God used wicked nations to bring His judgement on His Israel. If He decided to use judgment on the USA to bring us back to Him, he would pick the nation to use. I don't at this time think Bin Laden is it. If God used a wicked nation, it doesnt mean that wicked nation or leader is a profit.
8 | US the chosen one? | Genesis | Rats Feet | 162148
Are you insinuating that USA is the "chosen nation"? If you do support bringing nations into judgement, do you support the crusades in the middle ages? |

Submission to Rulers and Masters 1 Peter 2:13-25 13Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. 17Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 18Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."[e] 23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. We are a chosen people - witnesses that God has revealed himself. Is 43:11-12 |
