  Dear 7angels,

Different answer matters not, but biblical answers matter. As an old-timer user of the forum, I understand that Lockman (the forum host) will delete posts should they find them violate the TOU. 142 Was Rachel living when Joseph was sold i Gen 35:20 azurelaw 230796
  Dear smyrdell,

In addition to my previous post, please also read Genesis 48:7 where Jacob told Joseph about the death of his mother. So, it is pretty certain that Rachel was still alive before he was sold.

Most probably Rachel was still alive when Joseph was sold. See Genesis 37:10.

145 God's promises? Heb 11:20 azurelaw 230736
  Dear readnword,

The verse you quoted (Gen 22:9) did not indicate Isaac shared the faith of Abraham's in God's promises. However, the Bible does comment on Isaac's faith in God, see Hebrew 11:20.

147 is 70 years what is promise man Ps 90:10 azurelaw 230711
  Dear Bertall,

I think you might be looking for Psalm 90:10. However, read the whole chapter that Moses was not affirming the life expectancy is 70 years, but...

"...sings of the frailty of man, and the shortness of life, contrasting therewith the eternity of God, and founding thereon earnest appeals for compassion....... Moses himself lived longer than this, but his was the exception not the rule: in his day life had come to be very much the same in duration as it is with us. This is brevity itself compared with the men of the elder time; it is nothing when contrasted with eternity. Yet is life long enough for virtue and piety, and all too long for vice and blasphemy." -- Charles Spurgeon

148 right type of bible to use Bible general Archive 4 azurelaw 230688
  Dear Glenn,

I would have to agree with Bill's advice. By the way, in addition to that, I've heard someone say: The best bible to use is the one you use most. So, when you are zealous about God's word, you will diligently study His Word for the real message. Thus you will not satsify on using a single version of translation.

I am a Chinese and of course for easier understanding,I use a Chinese Bible. The one I am using is a Chinese Bible translated base on KJV mostly. However, I also use NIV (English), KJV (English) some other versions on the internet as a study tool for my bible study.

May you be fruitful in your study and teaching.

152 what does god say it takes to be a man Gen 1:26 azurelaw 230528
  Dear Jarrett,

Men are to live for God's glory because we are made according to His image (Gen 1:26; Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 10:31).

Men are to rule over other creatures on earth (Gen 1:26).

Men are to prosper and to bring up godly offspring (Gen 1:28; Malachi 2:15).

153 Will I be with my wife in Heaven ? John 3:16 azurelaw 230526
  Dear fisk,

Welcome to the forum.

If both of you are true believers on Christ, I think the answer is positive. (John 3:16-18, Romans 10:9-13)

However, you won't be husband and wife anymore in heaven. (Mat 22:30, Luke 20:34-36)

155 What does this verse mean Luke 18:25 azurelaw 230432
  Dear mpayne,

Welcome to the forum. The meaning lies in verse 24. Jesus's figurative expression in v25 was an exageration for explaining the level of hardness for a wealth man to enter into the kingdom of God.

156 Symbolic meaning of a "well" OT general azurelaw 230373
  Dear anjaromanov,

Please provide book, chapter and verse for your question.

However, please read the Bible and get your proper understand in concern with the context. Though some verses may contain symbolic meaning, but not most/all that in the Bible bear symbolic meaning.

Without any scriptural support provided, I would say a "well" is only a well :-)

157 can they be saved if they repent Rom 1:28 azurelaw 230054
  Dear austinozark,

Welcome to the forum. John has proclaimed to the world a Goodnews:-

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:17
"For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

John 3:18
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

In Mark 1:15, Jesus also said "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

158 Two people stoned for adultry. Deut 22:22 azurelaw 229707
  Dear Jssgirl,

There is no such biblical story recorded in the bible. However you may read how people committed adultery are punished according to Moses' law in Deut chapter 22 and Leviticus chapter 20.

For your information, in ancient time, capital punishment on people who committed adultery was not limited to Israelites, Chinese also had capital punishment for adulterers, one of the means was to drown them.

So, we may see that adultery has been viewed as a very serious crime. Unlike nowadays people's viewing it lightly.
