1 | Upon death do we go directly to Heaven? | Luke 23:43 | TEALEAD | 135027
The answer to your question is yes, we do go immediately to see Jesus. The fact of scripture is that we are created in God's image. God is Spirit and once we are "born again" John 3:16 we are given new life in our spirit. When we die our physical body remains 6 feet under, but our spirit and our soul (mind, will, and emotions) or our personality is immediately brought into heaven with God. In fact right now your Spirit is already existing in the heavenlies with the Lord at this time. In Ephesians 2:6 we see the scripture says "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." Also in Phillippians 3:20 Paul reminds us . . "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there .. " The reference is present tense and reminds us that we are currently citizens of heaven -- not after we die. Christ is now our life and we know he lives in us and through us and is himself seated in the heavenlies. Hope it reassures you.
2 | Gospels were a dream? | John | TEALEAD | 64954
Dear Timothy, I'm not sure quoting scripture will get you far with someone who doesn't acknowledge them as the truth. Sometimes asking her questions about life as in does she think that there is a right from wrong? If she agrees that murder or other obvious "sins" are wrong, ask her why-- who established right from wrong. If you can get her analizing why she believes what she does, you get her to seek the answers. I'm not a pro at this style of witnessing, but I find sources like the "Case for Christ" and the "Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel to be good resources. He writes from a perspective of a skeptic and asks many of the tough questions people ask. He searches out the answers from many respected people across the country and essentially "proves" through reasoning that the Bible and Christ are real. After listening to his arguments from both sides he comes off that the more logical outcome is to actually believe. Other types of appologetic works that support the truth of the Bible and the facts that are proven in History would be helpful. I think the fact that the resurrection of Christ was first witnessed by women (the last thing you would report if you were trying to start a movement). Also the number of disciples and followers that willingly died for something they believed in and not in a mass suicide kind of thing, but through the ages. People will not die for a lie. There are many other arguments that you can make to get her thinking. The bottom line is share the info in love and even if met with resistance, be Christ like. She will be amazed more sometime by how you live out what you believe than the information that you share. Then, it is in God's hands. My prayers are with you. Tealead |

3 | Eph 1:18, Inheritance question? | Eph 1:18 | TEALEAD | 64900
I'm studying Ephesians chapter 1 and wondering if anyone can shed some light on the end of verse 18. Paul is praying for the eyes of our heart to be enlightened, that we may know the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of HIS inheritance in the saints. When I first read it I felt it was talking about the hope we have in Christ resulting in eternal life. I also as I read thought Paul was talking about our inheritance, but by reading it closer, I note that it really says of "His inheritance in the saints." How do I interpret this verse? Is God saying that we are his inheritance? That he counts a relationship with us to be so valuable, that the end of our own hope brings us eternal joy with him and the same is true of God. Our obedience to God brings him eternal joy to inherit us as His own? Not sure if I'm making sense as I type this, but am I right to interpret this verse to say God considers those who are believers in Christ to be an inheritance all his own? Any insight would be appreciated. In Christ, Tealead |

4 | Can man know God without a Bible | Rom 10:17 | TEALEAD | 64553
Thanks for your response. I wanted to share an awesome resourse with you titled: "In the Beginning: Evidence for Creation and the Flood." Written by Walt Brown. You mentioned being on a dig and mentioning your creation views to some of the students. I have found this resourse to be an excellent source for explaining the faults with Evolution and is the only text that I've read that poses firm scientific backing and explaination for the flood and creation. You sound firm in your understanding, but I've found this to be a great teaching tool.
5 | Can man know God without a Bible | Rom 10:17 | TEALEAD | 64453
Thanks for clarifying this to me. I did find that example to seem a bit strange, yet it was referenced in notes in my Bible. I do use the NIV translation which is where my fault may lie. Do you have a response to the rest of my comments. I enjoy the interaction on this web site and look to it as a place to learn. I would like to know what you think of the scripture references in Romans realated to the main question of if man can know God without the scriptures. My understanding is that God reveals himself through his creation and he calls us to seek him out. If one were truely seeking God I believe he would find him. God would put in his life the desire and the means for finding him. Does it all come back to election?? Any insights? |

6 | Can a man know God without a Bible? | Rom 10:17 | TEALEAD | 64389
I've pondered this question also at an earlier time. I found the scriptures in Roman's compelling in Rm 1:20 where it clearly states that "Since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understod from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Another reference to look at is Col 1:23. Paul is talking to believers, but makes a statement to them saying, "...This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven..." I find it interesting that Paul claims that every creature under heaven has had the Gospel proclaimed. Also going back to Romans, 2:12-16, and more specifically verse 14 wher Paul talks about Gentiles who do not have the law, do by nature things required by law....v 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing withness..." I think these scriptures can say that God reveals himself to man and within us is a sense of right and wrong. I'm not sure I have an answer to the part of your question about being intimately acquainted with Him. I would find that difficult.

9 | Gifts of the Spirit | 1 Corinthians | TEALEAD | 64387
I have taken a course put out by the Willow Creek Association, titled NETWORK. It goes through the various spiritual gifts and matches them with your passions (things you love to do on a daily basis)and your personality type (example: people or task oriented). From reading your question, you seem to be limiting yourself to only the outward signs of the Holy Spirit such as speaking in tongues. I feel that His role is greater than that and that God gifts everyone with Spiritual gifts to be used to further His kingdom. Sometimes underestimated are gifts of service, mercy and helps. Higher profile gifts are teaching, evangelism and prophesy. As Paul reminds us in I Cor 12:12-31, one can not go without the other. Some are eyes, others ears, hands and feet. The beauty is when all the parts of the body of Christ are working together. He has definitely gifted you spiritually and in a more tangible way physically. The beauty is when you combine the things you are passionate about with a tangible spiritual gift. I truely found the Network class to help me and affirm me in my own spiritual gifts and help me to truely appreciate the many gifts that God has given to others. Hope this helps. TEALEAD |
