2 | Has speaking in tongues ceased? | 1 Corinthians | Ephraim | 114302
Please read the entire chapter 14 and you will see that Paul was teaching this young Corinthian church the proper use of tonges. Read it, there is no way you can interpret that 14:18 Paul is talking about languages he learned by study. 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, 14:2 For anyone who speaks ina tongue does not speak to men but to God. INDEED, NO ONE UNDER STANDS HIM; HE UTTERS MYSTERIES WITH HIS SPIRIT. 14:4 HE WHO SPEAKS IN A TONGUE EDIFIES HIMSELF, 14:5 I WOULD LIKE EVERY ONE OF YOU TO SPEAK IN TONGUES, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, UNLESS HE INTERPRETS, so that the church may be edified. 14:13 For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should PRAY THAT HE MAY INTERPRET WHAT HE SAYS. 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, BUT MY MIND IS UNFRUITFUL. So what shall I do? I will pray WITH MY SPIRIT, but I will also pray WITH MY UNDERSTANDING. 14:16 iF YOU ARE PRAISING gOD WITH YOUR SPIRIT, how can one who finds himself among those WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND SAY AMEN. 14:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. BUT IN THE CHURCH I WOULD RATHER SPEAK FIVE INTELLIGIBLE WORDS TO INSTRUCT OTHERS THAN TEN THOUSAND WORDS IN A TONGUE. I could go on with the rest of the chapter but I want you to study the scriptures. Their is no way you can interpre this chapter as Paul talking about human languages. Next I will encourage you to read chapter 10 of the book of Acts when the out pouring of the Holy Spirit came upon the Gentiles and they spoke in tongues. And from their on in church history to this day God has given this gift to win the soul of lost humanity. God Bless |

3 | Has speaking in tongues ceased? | 1 Corinthians | Ephraim | 114205
Acts 2:32 " God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear." Verse 38-39 " Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. THE PROMISE IS FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN AND FOR ALL WHO ARE FAR OFF FOR ALL WHOM THE LORD OUR GOD WILL CALL." Acts 2:14-18 " In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on ALL PEOPLE. yOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS WILL PROPHESY, YOUR YOUNG MEN WILL SEE VISIONS, YOUR OLD MEN WILL DREAM DREAMS. EVEN ON MY SERVANTS, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT IN THOSE DAYS." Please remember that this scripture is in the context of Peter the apostle explaining the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the speaking in tongues. Saul's Conversion in Acts 9:10 " In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, Ananias! Yes Lord, he answered. The Lord told him, 'Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight. Verse 17-18 " Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, 'Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here has sent me so that you may see again AND BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strenght." Please remember that it was the apostle Paul that gave us the book of Corinthians with chapters 12,13,14 which gives us instruction about the proper use of tongues. and don't forget 14:18 Paul said, " I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you." Now, was Ananias one of the 12 apostles? No. I would encourge you to continue to search the scripture and the Lord will reveal the truth to you. Yes, the Lord wants you to have this gift that was given to the body of Christ on the day of Pentecost. Pentecost was an Old testiment celebration of the in gathering of the harvest. That is what you and I are called to do, bring in the harvest of souls. Our Lord has provided the power to accomplish this commission. Acts 1:8 Jesus said: " But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. God bless! |

4 | Has speaking in tongues ceased? | 1 Corinthians | Ephraim | 114196
No, speaking in tongues has not ceased! God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He meant what he said, said what he meant and his word is forever unchanging and infallible. I Corinthians 12:1-11 describe the wonderful gifts of the Holy Spirit to the body of Christ. Then verse 12-30 speaks of the body of Christ and how all these gifts are given to strenghten the body so it can function effectively. Verse 31 ends the discourse with, " But eargerly desire the greater gifts." Chapter 14 is a wonderful discourse concerning the proper use of tongues in a church setting and 14:1 starts by saying,"Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts,...." I love how these two chapters about gifts are sandwiched, with chapter 13 in the middle, the MOTIVE FOR THE GIFTS, LOVE. Look at verse 8,"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; WHERE THERE IS KNOWLEDGE IT WILL PASS AWAY. If tongues have past away then I guess he is saying knowledge has past away as well. No, the word is saying that when perfection has come, the imperfect disappears. Then an illustration is given, of a child growing into a man. Then another illustration is given to explain that we now see but a poor reflection as in a mirror. In those days the mirrors were very poor and was basically a polished piece of metal. The image was very poor. The rest of the verse says, " then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. You see, the gifts are glimpses of heaven as a poor mirror or a child that has not yet matured. But when perfection comes then we will see not in a poor mirror or like a child but face to face, and then we will know fully what we only know now in part. We will see clearly, " even as I am fully known. On the other side of that imperfect mirror, heaven see us perfectly. |

5 | God speak to us? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 114067
God is never far away! I would encourage you to read Psalm 139. It speaks of a wonderful creator that has formed us and knows us intimately. Verse 7-12 says: " Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me, even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you." There is no such thing as being far from God. If you are a born again Christian according to John 3:3-9 the Spirit of God is living in you. Romans 8:11 says " And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you." Romans 8:14-16 states," because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." God speaks to us from the inner man ( Spirit of God that lives in us). Therefore their is no such thing as being to far from God for him to speak to us unless you are talking about someone who is deep in sin and therefore separate from God. But all the sinner would have to do is turn from their sin and turn to God in faith and He will be right there to save them. Hope this will help you and may God bless you with his still small voice that comes from within. |

6 | Please, only Bible expert answer this. | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 114060
No, you will not find any verse in the bible that says that God is nearer to us than our breath, hands, or feet. But you will find in Ps.139 he knows when you sit and when you rise, and he perceives your thoughts and knows the response of your tongue before you open your mouth. Also he knit you together in your mothers womb, and knew you before you were ever formed. Isaiah speaks of God holding your hand, and Proverbs speak of God guiding your feet. Jesus said he knows the number of hairs on your head. The scripture records that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. I could go on with many other verses declaring the nearness of God, but if you are looking for a verse that actually says the words, "God is nearer to us then our breath, hands or feet" their isn't one. Hope this will help you and may God bless you ! |

Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed: Gen.19:1-29 In Gen. 18:20-21, " Then the Lord said, The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know." In Gen. 18:16-33 Abraham Pleads for the righteous not to be destroyed along with the wicket. Gen.19:1-29, The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening and Lot insisted that they stay at his house. " He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom both young and old surrounded the house. They called to Lot, Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." The men and boys at the door of Lot's house got so violent that the angel's struck them with blindness. They instructed Lot and any rightous to get out of the city and (v.24) " Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah from the Lord out of the heavens." Jude 7, " In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." II Peter 2:6 " If he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men ...... Romans 1:18-32 (v.24-27) " Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." Study these scriptures in their entirety. |

10 | Satan caste to earth... | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 104161
If I understand your question correctly, you are saying that you believe that satan was cast down to the earth during the ministry of Jesus and therefore we are persecuted instead of blessed in the New Testament. Satan entered in by deceiving Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden in Genesis chapter three. The first prophecy of Jesus coming to destroy the power of satan was Gen.3:15 " And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring (seed) and hers; he will crush (strike) your head, and you will strike his heel." This is God speaking to the serpent about Jesus Christ the savior. From this point on through the bible you can follow the Godly line (seed) and the ungodly lineage. As far as New Testament (covenant) blessings we are blessed far beyond anything that the Old Covenant had to offer. The book of Hebrews will help you out in this understanding, the key word is better. Better Blood, O.T. had the blood of animals and we have the blood of Jesus. Better temple: O.T. they had a stone temple built by mans hands, N.T. we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Better High Priest, O.T. the people had to go to a priest as a mediater, N.T. Jesus is are High Priest who we can go directly. O.T. had the law written on stone, N.T. we had the law written on are hearts by the Holy Spirit and fulfilled by Jesus Christ. (I Peter 1:10-12)" Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. The entire O.T. was a school teacher getting mankind ready for the most awesome blessing in man's history, Immanuel, God with us and now in us. (Eph.1:3) "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." ( 2 Peter 1:3-4 ) " His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." |

11 | is burning the pages of the bible wrong? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 104157
The first thing I would do is ask them why they have chosen the pages from a bible to roll a joint? Their are rolling papers you can buy in any local store and if they are fearful of buying them in a store why of all options have they chosen as a substitute the pages of the bible. I am sure that it was probably harder for them to seek out a bible then to find papers. Therefore I would suggest that their choice of paper speaks very clearly about the motive of their heart. It would seem to me that even these guys ( if they are really honest ) would tell you that they are doing this in defiance and disrespect to God. Next I would say, since you went to the trouble of finding a bible let me show you something really awesome in the book of John 3:16. Then tell them about the love that God has for them. If you will be bold enough to take these steps, I can asure you that God will honor the seed of his word sow in their hearts and they will never forget the encounter. |

12 | True or False | 1 Corinthians | Ephraim | 102914
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not suject to any man's judgment: For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. ( I Cor.2:10-16) .....and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit. ( I Cor.12:3 |

13 | who and wherewas the exile in micah 1:16 | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 100899
Israel was taken into exile by the Assyrians in 722-721 B.C. and Judah by the Babylonians in 586. Micah prophesied sometime between 750 and 686 B.C. during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah ( Micah 1:1; Isa 1:1 ; Hos.1:1 ; Jer. 26:18 ). All these prophets mentioned above were contemporaries. Micah predicted the fall of Samaria ( which is the capital of Israel, the northern kingdom ) in verse 6-7 in chapter one. Micah 1:16 he is still speaking of the exile of Israel to Assyria.
14 | Everything God Makes is Perfect? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 100884
I would like to follow up with a few additional comments. I do believe a particular family may have more homosexual tendency then another. In Exodus 20:4 " You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, PUNISHING THE CHILDREN FOR THE SIN OF THE FATHERS TO THE THIRD AND FOURTH GENERATION of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. If their is a family lineage that has not been serving the Lord, the curse and sin nature that we have been discussing will continue down from generation to generation. Did you ever go to the doctor for a physical examination and He or she would ask you, do you have cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, etc. in your family. What they are determining is if your family lineage has these problems you will to because it come down from generation to generation. Well, spiritually the same is true. Unless the generational curse is broken by Jesus. No I do not believe a person is born gay but if it is a sin from the forefather coming down from generation to generation because they have not served the Lord I do believe that influence will be their and will cause a greater tendency to fall into that sin. |
||||||
15 | So its possible for a man to be born gay | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 100870
No I do not believe that a person is born gay, Romans 1:21-27 " For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their THINKING became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefor God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
16 | Everything God Makes is Perfect? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 100868
I would like to follow up with some additional comments. Many people ask why is there wars, sickness, diseases, retardation, etc. The reason is that this world is under a curse. Study Genesis before the fall to sin and at the point of sin entering in, Gen.3:7. From this point on you will find shame, guilt, fear, contention, pride, pain, suffering, frustration, toil, tiredness, sexual desire, self-consciousness, and every emotion out of control from the sinful nature. In Gen.4:1-11 the account of the first murder ( Cain killed Abel ) was an account of the sinful nature out of control with anger, Jealousy, and envy. The good news is that ( Galatians 3:13-14) "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit." Christ has paid price for our sin and brings us out of the curse of this world by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit. |

17 | Everything God Makes is Perfect? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 100857
Genesis 1:27 "God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created Him; male and female He created them." God created man in a perfect right relationship with Him and placed Him in the garden of Eden or ( paridise) and gave him one command, Gen.2:16 "And the Lord God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it YOU WILL SURELY DIE." Satan came along and deceived man and he made a choice not to obey God but to eat from the tree he was told that if he did he would die. Gen.2:7-27 records the curses that came upon man and the world at the point of disobedence. Man was cast out of the paridise of God. Gen.5:1-3 This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made Him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, He called them man. When Adam had lived 130 years, HE HAD A SON IN HIS OWN LIKENESS, IN HIS OWN IMAGE; ...." As God created man in His own perfect image, so now sinful Adam has a son in his own imperfect image. In the book of Psalms it records that man is fashioned in sin. The only way to recover the perfect image of God again is through Jesus Christ the second Adam I Cor.15:45-49. Jesus came in the form of a man to fulfill what man could not fulfill in the sinful nature. Through the born again experience Jn.3:1-7 and the impartation of God's Holy Spirit do we positionally regain the perfect image of God.
18 | why God denied cain's offering not ables | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 100557
Cain and Abel had an example of the offering they were to bring to God by their parents, Adam and Eve. Where else would Cain and Abel even get the ideal of offering to God and especially Abel with a living blood sacrifice. You can be sure that Adam and Eve taught them all about the garden of paradise and their relationship with God. How the crafty serpent deceived them into believeing a lie and the consequences of the curses. How they were driven out and banished from the garden of Eden with a cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. And then finally they were taught about the sacrifice that God had made to cover them. Gen.3:21 " The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." Abel was a good student and understood the lessons from his heart and brought a sacrificial offering by faith (Heb.11:4) according to God's way. Cain missed the whole idea somehow and offered only what he could do in his own strength. It was the first person in history that has tried to approch God by his own good works and not the way God has established. From this point is were all false religions have started, Islam,Buddhism,Jehovah's witness, etc. All these religions have a bases of working their way to God. God said to Cain, Gen.4:6 " Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accipted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." See, their was no eccuse for Cain, God held him accountable for what he had learned and knew. May God bless you with understanding from the heart. Ephraim |

19 | shut up around wicked only? | Ps 39:1 | Ephraim | 99670
In the context of the entire Psalm this is a man (DAvid) who's soul is deeply troubled and is somewhat contentious with his God. In verse one he had determined to keep silent, and keep a muzzle on his mouth for fear that rebellious words would escape in the hearing of the wicked. Suppressed anguish only intensified the agony and he could finally no longer suppress his anguish. In verse 3-4 "My heart grew hot within me, and as I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue; In verse 4 he began to spout out his anguish before the Lord. Read the entire Ps. and you will see his troubled heart. When in circumstances and situations like David we to sometimes say foolish things. Look at verse 13, David said, "Look away from me, that I may rejoice again before I depart and am no more." This is David, the one God said: "This is a man after my own heart." I don't know if you have ever been in a situation like this but I have. We must continue being a good witness before those who are lost no matter what our trouble may be. 20 | what is theocracy | Bible general Archive 2 | Ephraim | 99347
EdB, God raised up a nation through Abraham the first Hebrew,(Gen.12:1-3). Of course this nation would be the Israelites, God's chosen people. In (Gen.17:1-14) God came to Abram and confirmed His covenant, (V.7-8) "I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God. EdB, this is what a theocracy is. It is a nation who is ruled by God. God fulfilled His promise and brought the Israelites into Canaan land as a great nation under God. But when they began to take their eye's off God who brought them through the wilderness and gave them great victories over their enemies, they cried out for a king. They saw the pagan nations around them and wanted to be like them. They said we want a king to go before us like the other nations. So God gave them their desire with the first King, Saul. You can read this in ( I Samuel 8:entire chapter ). A very sad verse in this chapter is (v.7) " And the Lord told him: (Samuel) Listen to all that the people are saying to you: It is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.
