2 | Self control, and Spirit control? | Ephesians | 4me2liveisChrist | 52726
This is a followup on a question I asked. I believe the answer below is the correct answer. The answer came from one of the people I asked. REFERENCES 1 Cor 9:25 Self control Eph 5:18 Spirit control QUESTION How is it then, that we are to be both self controlled, and be filled (controlled) by the Holy Spirit? ANSWER The Holy Spirit guides, convicts, instructs, and helps us. He is the Wonderful Counselor. The control He exerts is influence, but we always have the option of rejecting Him. We have the freedom of choice so that we are not simply robots. We can try self control on our own, but we will fail without truth and wisdom. The transforming work He does is also control, but we must submit or yield to His way. When we are filled with the Holy Sprit, we enter into a partnership with Him, He changes our character (Spirit control) as we submit to His authority (self control). |

3 | "just" consequences? | Deut 32:4 | 4me2liveisChrist | 50817
Is your question, "Is God just"? Is there some unresolved issue between you and God? You seem to be saying that Satan's fall was not justified because man had not yet been created. I think you have the contract idea wrong. When God created man, man was sinless. But man chose to sin. God is certainly capable of programming a robot, however, that wouldn't display His power. One of God's attributes is that He transcends creation, in other words, He is God and we're not. Perhaps you should allow God to be God. Is Jesus the Lord (sovereign one) of your heart? |

4 | Can God save us the way HE WANTS TOO? | Acts 2:38 | 4me2liveisChrist | 50399
Zech 9:16 And the LORD their God will save them in that day as the flock of His people; for they are as the stones of a crown, sparkling in His land. Matt 1:21 "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." Water doesn't save, Jesus saves. Water baptism by immersion, is a testamony of identifying oneself with the death and resurrection of Jesus. We die to our sins by accepting the free gift (grace) of salvation from God, and are raised up into new life by the power of the Holy Spirit. "John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." |

5 | step of faith | Mark 9:24 | 4me2liveisChrist | 50340
Faith is believing in the unseen. If you can see it, you don't have to believe. Whatever the step of faith is for you, you should first commit it to prayer. Fasting helps to remove distractions from prayer, but fasting doesn't have to be from food. Fast from whatever distracts you from entering God's throne room, and commit the time to prayer. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. Remember, prayer is a two way conversation. The formula for prayer can be found in 2 Chronicles 7:14, humble yourself, pray, confess, and turn from your iniquity. God's response will be to hear your prayer, to forgive you, and to heal your brokeness. See the scripture below. Mark 9:16-29 16 And He asked them, "What are you discussing with them?" 17 And one of the crowd answered Him, "Teacher, I brought You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute; 18 and whenever it seizes him, it slams him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth and stiffens out. I told Your disciples to cast it out, and they could not do it." 19 And He *answered them and *said, "O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me!" 20 They brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at the mouth. 21 And He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood. 22 "It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!" 23 And Jesus said to him, "'If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes." 24 Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief." 25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again." 26 After crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and the boy became so much like a corpse that most of them said, "He is dead!" 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him; and he got up. 28 When He came into the house, His disciples began questioning Him privately, "Why could we not drive it out?" 9:29 And He said to them, "This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer." Read Hebrews 11. |

6 | What is Worship? | John 4:24 | 4me2liveisChrist | 50217
Worship is devotion. It is what consumes our thoughts and imaginations. Worship originates in the heart. That is why Jesus said, (John 4:24) "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Praise is external, we can praise with false motives. Praise doesn't always reveal the true condition of the heart. God looks on the heart and judges the thoughts and intentions, He knows whether your praise truly reveals your heart, or not. Worship styles vary among churches because the Holy Spirit and gifts of the Spirit are perceived differently by different denominations. God doesn't change, but the agenda of mankind sometimes gets in the way of God's will. We read throughout scripture, of the continual cycles of man falling away, and God by His grace, redeeming. The only perfect church will come into being when the Bridegroom (Jesus) comes to get His bride (His church) to reign with Him forever, AMEN!

8 | Any information on Deborah the Judge | 1 Cor 12:1 | 4me2liveisChrist | 49754
Concerning the prophecy, 1 John 4:1-3, test every spirit to see if they are from God. The title of Judges comes from the Hebrew word Shophetim which means maintain justice and settle disputes. In addition, the word carries the actions of to liberate, and to deliver. Deborah was not only a judge, but also a prophetess. Judges 4:4 Deborah gave glory to God for the victory, Judges 5 What are your spiritual gifts? 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 For more information, get a Bible commentary at a Christian bookstore. |

9 | which nation actually resembles God? | John 4:24 | 4me2liveisChrist | 49734
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. Galatians 3:28, 29 Israel is God's chosen people to bring forth the Great King from the womb. But all who believe in the Great King, Jesus the Son of the living God, shall be saved, and are of the promise, the chosen ones of God. Have you surrendered your life to the Great King? For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 |

10 | New Covenant vs Mosaic Law | Matt 5:17 | 4me2liveisChrist | 49610
Deuteronomy 6:4-6 Leviticus 19:18 When studying scripture, listen with the ears of the original hearers. The first five books of the Bible are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Those books come from the Torah which is continuous without books, chapters, and verses. To the Jew, the Torah is the law. Since the ten commandments are contained within the Torah, there is no differentiation between Mosaic law and the ten commandments. Jesus fulfilled all of the Torah. |

11 | did not lucifer make a choice | Ezek 28:15 | 4me2liveisChrist | 49384
Ezekiel 28:11-19 The anointed cherub who covers as he was called before he fell, did indeed make a choice. Verse 12 tells us that he had the seal of perfection, was full of wisdom, and he was perfect in beauty. Verse 15 tells us that he was blameless until he sinned. Verse 17 tells us that pride was in his heart because of his beauty, and he corrupted his wisdom. Therefore, he did make a choice. All created beings have the power of choice. If God made robots that could only say "I love you", and could do no wrong, is that true love? How then would the power of God be manifested? The power of God, and more importantly, the love of God, is manifested when wretched men and women respond to His grace and choose to obey Him. Jesus said, "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love." John 15:10 To quote an old song, "To know Him is to love Him" And to love Him, is to obey Him. Don't get too curious about Satan. Satan means Deceiver. He wants nothing more than to reel you in, and devour you. Resist him. 1 Peter 5:8,9 |

12 | Arguing for the historical Jesus | NT general Archive 1 | 4me2liveisChrist | 48928
There are 44 prophecies in eleven old testament books which were fulfilled by Jesus. The non-Jewish historian Josephus wrote about Jesus. Jews to this day acknowledge that Jesus lived, but they say He was a renegade, a trouble maker. I haven't read the argument you talked about, but there is plenty of evidence that Jesus is real. Most importantly, is the conviction in my heart. John 20:29 Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed. |

13 | An Argument from Silence and A Thought | NT general Archive 1 | 4me2liveisChrist | 48926
Gen 1:26 Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our Likeness.... Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Micah 5:2 But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity. The Hebrew mind understood that God is three persons and is one. The Pharasees couldn't accept the techings of the Messiah, and felt threatened from a political standpoint. In addition, their idea of a Messiah was one who would be a military leader. Therefore, the Jewish leaders came up with false accusations, and false witnesses. Pilate didn't want anything to do with Jesus, and handed him back to the Jews. However the will of the Jews won because Pilate didn't want trouble. Little did any of them realize, that this all fit perfectly into the Father's plan. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, for the Lord our God the Almighty reigns! Forever and ever, Amen! |

14 | I Cor 12 | Acts | 4me2liveisChrist | 48592
Check out Galatians 5:16-26. This response is in reference to 1 Corinthians 12:1-3. Being filled with the Holy Spirit means controlled by the Holy Spirit. Satan is the accuser, and desires to destroy the works of Christ. The idols of today are anything that draws our focus away from God: impure thoughts, aquiring possessions, another human being, or self worth. The test is, the fruit of our lips. For out of the heart comes all kinds of evil, our heart is the seat of our choices. Satan takes control through the temptation of our flesh. The control of Satan is manifested by our words, and actions. If we are under the control of the flesh, then Jesus is cursed, but if we are controlled by the Holy Spirit, we claim Jesus as Lord. Lord means Sovereign One. Is Jesus Lord of your life? |

John 3:14-21 God loves you enough to die in your place. You deserved death, but God sent His Son so you can present your life as a living sacrifice to glorify God.
