281 | Is Jesus Gods son? | Heb 1:5 | Pastor Glenn | 71057
CDBJ, You are right. I meant to say that He had a body like ours. However, even after reading the scriptures that you mentioned, How did Christ avoid having the sin nature of the flesh? He was still the "seed of the woman" genetically in the flesh. Isn't the real key to this issue the fact that Christ walked continually after the spirit rather than the flesh? Even at 12 years old He said that He must be about His father's business. Wasn't He tempted in all points like us? Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. How is that possible if his flesh had no lust? Isn't the real difference that Christ kept His flesh under subjection to His spirit, even from birth to the crucifixion? Pastor Glenn |

CDBJ, I also hope that Tony Hall's original question has been answered sufficiently. And I hope these continuing questions of Jesus' human nature and sinlessness does not confuse him even more. I think we all agree on these points: 1. Jesus had to be the seed of the woman. (Chistians are His spiritual offspring.) 2. He had to be without spot or blemish. (Adam had the chance but blew it.) 3. He had to have power to rise from the dead. (only God could) 4. He had to have power to forgive sins. (only God could) Your quotes from Romans 5:12-19 are good. Pastor Glenn |

285 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63668
EdB, I have no thoughts on last Rites for someone still living. But, if they are already dead and the Catholic church tries to raise the dead, then no one should try to stop them if they pray in the name of Jesus Christ. However, "Hail Mary mother of God..." will not work. It says pray over him, anointing him with oil "in the Lord's name" not "in the Lord's mother's name. [ :-) ] You probably mean praying someone out of Purgatory. In this case they need to find a scripture that says "Is anyone among you *dead*? Then *he* must call for the elders ...". After the dead guy calls for the elders then someone will probably need to stop them from running away first... Pastor Glenn |

286 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63672
I appologize EdB, I always beleived in praying for physical healing even for the terminally ill. King David prayed for Bathsheba's baby to live for several days, but he accepted it well when the baby died anyway. Death bed confessions seem far easier to accept then the sudden death of a loved one. I am sorry for offending you with my ignorant remarks. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

EdB, I am glad that you were not offended. Is it death bed confessions that interest you? What is there about last Rites that stands out? Pastor Glenn |

288 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63688
EdB, Again, you say you "...learned of the Catholic take on James 5 I said to myself how in the world do they come to that conclusion??? ". Is it the laying on of hands, the anointing with oil, or the death bed confessions that you find interesting? The thief on the cross was essentially a death bed confession. Some people resist until the end before they accept Jesus: Psalms 51:7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-- These, O God, You will not despise. Notice "...bones You have broken ..." and "broken and a contrite heart..." here. Also: 1 Corinthians 5 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.[1] 2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. What do you think of these scriptures? Pastor Glenn |

289 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63712
justme, About two years ago I anointed and prayed for my sister in-law after she had a severe stroke. She was uncontious and did not wake while I was there. She is now bound to a wheelchair and her daughter has moved her away to take care of her in another state. This past December I rushed from work to the hospital to anoint and pray for an elderly woman member of my church. But I was too late. As I arrived, her son was on his way towards his car. He informed me that she had just past away. Her's was the only funeral that I have performed so far after only one year as pastor. I am determined to pray, fast, and anoint the sick while exhibiting faith on God to give them a full recovery. I believe that God wants me to have faith first and formost, then the sick will have less reason to doubt. It is good to lead them in death bed confession of sin. But their confession and conversion is the greatest miracle that they can recieve. If we can have the faith for the greater thing (salvation), then why not for the smaller thing (healing) also? Anointing with oil may be an act of obedience, but it shows faith to obey God. Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." Heb 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

justme, I was one that tried to be strong and not grieve too much when my father died years ago. And it did lead to mild depression, but God brought me through it. Thanks for your prayers, Pastor Glenn |

291 | scripture on healing | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63731
EdB, I read the site at: http://www.christusrex.org/www1/CDHN/heal2.html#SICK It was not clear at first glance that the focus is on last Rites, rather than for all general sickness. We should always look to the bible for what God is saying, above what our denominational tradition says. Jesus taught against tradition. Pastor Glenn |

292 | who or what are (the spirits in prison)? | 1 Pet 3:19 | Pastor Glenn | 142173
Hello Searcher, "I don't think Noah preached. Only Noah was found righteous (Gen 6:9) and we are not saved by the acts of anyone else" It took me a while to look up supporting scripture that Noah preached. But I did find it. Please notice, "...a preacher of righteousness..." (2Pe 2:5). Gen 6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; As fathers, we have an enourmous influence over our families, but we must use that influence to save our families. Abraham used his influence to force his servants and children to cut their flesh through circumcision. Obedience is important to salvation as for those that sprinkled blood on their door posts in Egypt. Also, God thought so much of Abraham's command of his house that He informed him of the judgement coming on Sodom and Gomorrah: Gen 18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Gen 18:18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? Gen 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

Hello Bill, Based on these scriptures, the indication is strongly "angelic beings": 2Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. |

294 | CONDITIONAL ETERNAL SECURITY | 2 Pet 1:10 | Pastor Glenn | 62579
BradK, Just an observation: Heb 6:4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6if they fall away,[2] to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Notice all of the “AND”s here. 1. those who were once enlightened AND 2. have tasted the heavenly gift AND 3. have become partakers of the Holy Spirit AND 4. have tasted the good word of God AND 5. the powers of the age to come Doesn’t this indicate a Christian that is very very close to God? It seems it would take a person with the mindset of Satan to turn back from that kind of relationship to God. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Brother Moran, Thank youfor looking into this. This forum is far better than just a study bible because of dynamic and sensitive members like you and others. We will not always agree, but I do not agree with stances that I have taken myself years ago. The Christian walk is indeed a growing and maturing process. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Well said BradK, It is also interesting how God often speaks of His people as sheep, as well as, as lambs. He also talks about how He would leave 99 to find the one lost sheep. God is great! God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Very interesting Ray, This is quit a bit to ponder. It is also certain that God shows mercy far beyond what men would show to others: Isaiah 55: 6Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. 7Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Justme, I am not sure that I can ever truly finish thinking about these things and all of the implications. This may be a reason why God made us in this physical world, while He is of spiritual nature. We must all leave our physical nature behind since flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |
