1021 | Rule and Reign over What? | 1 Cor 6:3 | skccab | 211003
Aaaah one of my favorite prayers, we sing it each shabbat at prayers. If you're interested in the Hebrew language, email me sometime, maybe we can learn together!! I've learned how to read Hebrew (with the vowel points) but my vocabulary is quite small. :o( BTW, to anyone, are you having problems receiving email notifications of responses to your posts? It's been a little over a week since I've received any emails from SBF!! Cheri |

Shalom dear Azure, Yes, I am doing much better, thank you. The fact that you speak and write such lovely English, I have to constantly remind myself that you also have an extremely daunting native language. Hats off to you, sweet sister!! I'm just in first stages of learning Hebrew, would love to find someone else to study it with. :o) Cheri |

Shalom Jeff, Thank you so much. You cleared up a question that I had (about the one left in the lurch, so to speak). Very informative post. Cheri |

1025 | Receiving Communion if not married | 1 Cor 11:24 | skccab | 186098
1Co 11:24 - Had given thanks, Eucharistesas. Hence in post-apostolic and patristic writers, Eucharist was the technical term for the Lord's Supper as a sacrifice of thanksgiving for all the gifts of God, especially for the “unspeakable gift,” Jesus Christ. By some of the fathers of the second century the term was sometimes applied to the consecrated elements. The formula of thanksgiving cited in “The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles” is, for the cup first, 'We give thanks to Thee, our Father, for the holy vine of David Thy servant, which Thou hast made known to us through Jesus, Thy servant: to Thee be the glory forever.” And for the bread: “We give thanks to Thee, our Father, for the life and knowledge which Thou hast made known to us through Jesus Thy servant: to Thee be the glory forever. As this broken bread was scattered upon the mountains and, gathered together, became one, so let Thy Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into Thy Kingdom, for Thine is the glory and the power through Jesus Christ forever.” Brake Bengel says: “The very mention of the breaking involves distribution and refutes the Corinthian plan - every man his own” 1Co.11:21. Do, Be doing or continue doing. In remembrance Strictly, for or with a view to, denoting purpose. These words do not occur in Matthew and Mark. Paul's account agrees with Luke's. Remembrance implies Christ's bodily absence in the future. Marvin R. Vincent's Word Studies, Covenant Parsonage, NY, Oct. 30, 1886 I've read from other commentaries and I find nothing stated about having to be married in a church or outside of a church. This is a remembrance of Christ and His work done for us as individuals and as a people. And remember our God is a God of forgiveness, not condemnation. Hope this helps. (Also, as an apology - This quotation came as a part of a Bible softward program, not from the book proper and I don't have all the publishing info to properly identify.) |

1026 | Receiving Communion if not married | 1 Cor 11:24 | skccab | 186099
Please pardon, Vincent says basically the same thing as concerns the wine/blood part of the Communion. As far as Scripture proper, there is nowhere that states you have to be married in a church, out of a church or even married. Communion is one of the few observations that our Lord instituted/endorsed Himself - it should be observed as He said, not as some organization deems correct. Cheri |

1027 | Am I ignorant | 1 Cor 12:1 | skccab | 211144
Dear Jeff, Well put together post, well done. I, for one, come from the opposite direction, being a part of the charismatic "movement," then somewhat moving away from it. I don't in any way though think that the gifts have ceased. I think, like someone else posted earlier, that the people's faith has faltered, and therefore the gifts fail to work. After all, wasn't it our Lord who said in Mat. 8:13 "...as you have believed, so be it done to you..."? Maybe our prayer should be "Lord, I believe; help You my unbelief" Mark 9:24 Cheri |

Thank you Newwine, One of the best posts of the thread thus far. It goes right along with the other things that folks seem to think are done away with (that I believe scripture speaks quite differently about those things). I, personally, think that that "till" takes us right up to the moment of the "rapture." Just my 2cents thrown in :o) Cheri |

Val, My email is in my profile. I have absolutely no desire to get into a debate with anyone (and a debate would ensue). If you wish to email me I will be more than happy to discuss this further with you, but not here on the Forum. Cheri |

1030 | Am I ignorant | 1 Cor 12:1 | skccab | 212042
Shalom Steve, I certainly believe that the prophets and apostles of old have a place (of esteem) right here today and tomorrow - BUT I also see great need for such today, as well. There are many circumstances today that don't seem to be addressed in the Bible as fully (or at all) and they need to be. Do I actually see them here and now? That's questionable. I think I would have to be honest and say NO, I don't see either of those two active. But I also don't see God splitting up a working "team" that He ordained to work as a complete whole to edify His Body. Again, just my 2cents worth Cheri P.S. And I know you can buy a whole bunch of nothing with 2cents. lol |

Shalom Val, Sorry, it's been so long. Had prayers to go to, then I locked the keys to my car in my car. Lovely night!!!! hahaha I didn't mean to cut you off short - I figured you knew what I was talking about. Some people think the Law is abolished, some don't think that - that's what I meant and just didn't want to get into a debate with others (didn't think that I would with you or some of the others who know me). I try very hard to keep my fellowship with you wonderful folks as debate free as possible, even tho I'm kinda out in left field - it's still the same playing field :o). Ah, it's already the Lord's day for you, have a blessed one!! Cheri |

1033 | Am I ignorant | 1 Cor 12:1 | skccab | 212084
Hi Steve, This will probably get zapped, but you asked, so here goes: This has actually happened - Jack marries Jill (they even have a child) but Jack decides he was supposed to be a Jill so after 2plus years of psychoanylisis and surgeries, child now has mom Jill number 1 and mom Jill number 2. Jill2 has not started running after other Jacks, neither has the real Jill. We know that the Bible in essence says this is a no-no (for Jill2, err Jack) but the law doesn't so it's now a done deal leaving the real Jill out on a limb that the Bible does not seem to address because so far there has been no sexual immorality or adultery involved, just a sex-change which is civilally legal nowadays. Where does this leave the real wife? (And of course, it could be the other way around as well, leaving the original husband in a quandry.) And there are other similar circumstances that come to mind - but let's stick with this one for now. I am definitely PRO-BIBLE, don't get me wrong, but there are things that it just doesn't seem to address. Cheri |

Shalom John I knew the Jack Jill was wrong Biblically but it seemed to me like the real Jill was just stuck!! Thanks for the explanation. Cheri |

1035 | gifts of Healing and Miracles for today. | 1 Cor 12:9 | skccab | 187088
Hi Royalone, I'm happy to find someone like-minded here. I am a recipiant of healings (a flattened, broken ankle bone that was prayed over, and hours later showed no signs of injury, just a lot of dried blood), miracles (nothing major, just a typical Ga. thunderstorm with broken windshield wipers, so the area in front of car received no rain on it as we drove on to a very important appointment). And these are just 2 occasions, there were more; and could have only been of the Lord, for it was in His Name that we prayed and believed; the devil certainly didn't get any credit. And the praying in the Spirit (in tongues) is for the edifying of the persons praying or persons being prayed for. As Rom. 8:28 says: Likewise the Spirit helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Neither can I find anywhere in the Bible where the workings of the Holy Ghost is cut off as no longer to be needed. If anything, we need Him now active in our lives as much as then. This world is terribly evil. blessings cheri |

1036 | gifts of Healing and Miracles for today. | 1 Cor 12:9 | skccab | 187246
Hi hopalong I'm one of those that believe healings happen but not always for sure. 2 Kings 13:14 tells us that ELisha was sick with a sickness that would take his life 2Ki 13:14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And there are others, but that one popped in my remembrance right away blessings cheri |

Hi John, I an not agreeing or disagreeing on Who's stance in his/her posts but that double post could have happened, even several minutes apart like it did. I have sent a post, walked away and come back to that White Server Error page - I know to just bring SBF up again out of my favorites, but someone newer might click the back button and attempt to re-send (having returned to the computer) and it would go twice - the first having gone when it got stuck in that white "Server Error" page. Just wanted to let you know. |

1038 | face to face a person are place? | 1 Cor 13:10 | skccab | 196667
The poster himself could not do another post, but someone could respond to post number 1 (in fact, many could respond because it went to SBF and dropped into it's spot) because it didn't get stuck, the system is what got stuck. Then the second post could be made, 5, 10 minutes later (or however long it took to find the server error page is up) When that happens just go to favorites or bookmarks and bring SBF up new and you'll see your message went through. |

Ahhhh then my bad!! You were quite right then, it's quite impossible, unless he was working off 2 computers which is highly unlikely!! Sorry, I just try to look at all sides - sometimes to my embarrassment. |
