381 | Explanation for John 5:31 vs John 8:14 | John | inmyheart | 59206
Hello, Here is a commentary on John 5:31; The five-fold witness to who Jesus is 1. (31) Self-testimony was not reliable in a court of law 2. (33-35) First: the witness of John the Baptist 3. (36) Second: the witness of the works of Jesus 4. (32; 37-38) Third: the witness of the Father 5. (39) Fourth: the witness of the Scriptures 6. (40-44) The reason for their unbelief a. They are not willing; they have not God's love; they are concerned with man's honor, not the honor that comes from God b. This leaves them open to tremendous deception; even to follow an Anti-Christ. And John 8:13-20; (13-20) Jesus proclaims two witnesses to verify His person a. The mere fact that these Pharisees demand evidence to the light shows that they are blind to its shining b. Jesus points out the He is qualified to witness of Himself, not they, because only He has the view of eternity c. In any case, His testimony is fully supported by the Father d. Where is Your father? may be a slap at Jesus' mysterious conception e. They can only know the Father through the Son, who has declared Him. Praying that this is the information you are looking for. God bless |

383 | what does john 14:7 talk about | John | inmyheart | 70612
firstladyminister, John 14:7-11 - Show Us The Father. The point that Jesus is making here is that He has completely and perfectly represented Father God to them. No one can look the Father in the face. Remember, Moses made a similar request of God, saying, Exod.33:18 ..."I pray Thee, show me Thy glory!" But God's response to Moses was, Exod. 33:20 ..."You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!" Philip wants to see the Father. But Jesus says, "Philip, I've perfectly represented Him to you. He's in Me, and I'm in Him. I speak what He tells Me to, I do what He tells Me to. So, although you'd die instantly if you saw the Father's face, you have already seen the Father through My words and My works." So many people want to see God. And they know they can't look up at the sky and catch a glimpse of Him. So they turn to the church and say, "Show us the Father." What does the church show them? If they show them the words and the works of God, they show them the Father. But all too many are shown gossip. Judgement. Hatred. Backbiting. Immorality. And many people have decided that Christians cannot show them the Father. And so they turn elsewhere. Paul said to the Jews that were living hypocritically, Rom. 2:22-24 You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God? For "THE NAME OF GOD IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU,"... Let's take a look at ourselves. Every week, people come to us, hoping that we'll show them the Father. Let's be sure to show them the words of God, and the work of God, that they will not turn away from God. (Notes from a sermon at church) God bless |

Timothy Paul, I enjoyed your revelation of Psalm 119:105, and thank you for your kind response. Actually there are many good answers concerning God's will, however many over look that the Bible is indeed the Will of God. This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is Light; IN Him there is no darkness at all. 1John 1:5 (NIV) God bless |

394 | Who is the intercessor? | John 2:4 | inmyheart | 69410
Mommapbs, John 2:4 And Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 1. Woman. Jesus did not call her "mother", but "woman," a term of courteous respect, but indicating no spirit of obedience. Says Augustine, "As much as to say thou art not the mother of that in me which worketh miracles." Moses recognized that parental duties were subordinate to divine (Deuteronomy 33:9); and Jesus emphasized the principles (Matthew 10:37). Jesus taught that relationship to him was spiritual, and not fleshly (Matthew 12:46-50), and Paul coveted such relationship (2 Corinthians 5:16,17). 2. What have I to do with thee? This expression is used frequently in the Scriptures and invariably indicates a mild rebuke (1 Kings 17:18 2 Kings 3:13; 2 Chronicles 35:21; Matthew 8:29; Mark 1:24; Mark 5:7; Luke 4:34; Luke 8:28). It means "leave me to act as I please", and Jesus uses it to assert that he is independent of all human relationships in the exercise of his Messiahship. It corrects two errors taught by the Catholic Church: (1) Catholicism says that our Lord's mother was immaculate, but if this were true she could not have incurred our Lord's rebuke. (2) Catholicism teaches that Mary's intercession is recognized by Christ. But this is the only instance on record of such intercession, and though it was addressed to Christ while in the flesh and was concerning a purely temporal matter, it was promptly rebuked. 3. Mine hour is not yet come. Our Lord's answer indicates that Mary's request had in it more than a desire for the gift if wine. What she principally wanted was to have Jesus manifest himself as Messiah. Now, Jesus gave many secondary, but only one supreme, manifestation of his glory or Messiahship. His miracles were secondary manifestations, but his Passion was the supreme manifestation (John 8:28; John 2:18,19 Matthew 12:38-40). Jesus called this supreme sign his "hour" (John 12:23,27; John 17:1; Matthew 26:45; Luke 22:53). See also John 7:30; John 8:20. His mother sought for a supreme sign, but at that time only a secondary sign could be fittingly given. The triumph at Pentecost was not to be achieved at Cana. John 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. 1. His mother saith unto the servants. Though he had spoken words of rebuke, his mother was neither offended nor discouraged because of them, 2. Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. Though her words are not addressed to us, they will prove of untold profit to us if we obey them. This is the long and short of your question. As for the can of worms? :) God bless |

395 | Look to Jesus not problems, be healed! | John 3:14 | inmyheart | 88645
The Scriptures reveal to us that physical healing has been provided for the believer through the atoning work of Christ; however, there are those who reject this view and contend that it is not God's will to heal everyone, even those who come to Him in faith. One argument these people use is that the apostle Paul himself had suffered numerous illnesses, implying that if such a one as the apostle Paul failed to receive healing, then it is only normal for many ordinary believers to remain ill. If it was not God's will to heal the apostle Paul, then it may not be God's will to heal us. I will present some of the biblical passages often used to "prove" that Paul was a sick man. I will argue that these passages in fact demonstrate the tremendous healing power of God at work in Paul's life. His life and experiences provide us with reasons to believe God for healing, not the other way around. Paul's infirmities. "Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it has been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me" (Galatians 4:13-15). This biblical passage is often quoted as a proof that Paul was sick and that healing is not for everyone (or for nobody at all). Even if Paul was sick (which he was not, as we shall see), that does not prove anything about God's will in the area of healing until we also take into the account the direct statements in the Bible concerning healing. Abraham, David, Solomon, and other righteous characters in the Bible had more than one wife, and from these examples, some have concluded that God allows a man to have more than one wife at the same time. However, when we take into account the direct statements from the Bible (as oppose to the implications derived from people's actions and experiences), we understand that God's will is for a man to have only one wife. In the same way, Paul's experiences prove nothing unless it is consistent with the direct statements of the Bible. Verse 13 says, "ye know how through the infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first." Paul visited Galatia "at the first" in Acts 14. The Bible says Paul went into Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe. The province of Galatia contained Pisidia and Lycaonia, and therefore the towns of Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe. So Paul first visited Galatia in Acts 14. What happened to Paul in Acts 14? He was stoned: "And there came thither, certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he has been dead." In those days, they dug holes in the ground outside of the city. Whenever they were to stone someone, they would push the victim into the hole. Then, a crowd would gather around the hole and throw big rocks at the person's head, until they were certain that it was completely crushed. From biblical evidence, it seems that Paul was actually dead. The timing would be about 14 years before he was to write 2 Corinthians, which would make Acts 14 the time when he died and temporarily went to heaven to see the visions mentioned in 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. Then what happened? God raised Paul from the dead right on the spot and Paul marched right back into the same city! This is why Paul had an "infirmity of the flesh" – His skull had been crushed and he was walking around looking like that. So, instead of disproving the biblical teaching on healing, this passage in Galatians demonstrates God's supernatural healing and resurrection power. Paul was walking around supernaturally with this and many other injuries. Priase God! |

398 | helping someone to believe? | John 3:16 | inmyheart | 65704
You pray for them. You've heard that some sow, some water, and some harvest? Only God knows how He wants to use you in winning this person to the Lord. For myself, when I was in the world the preaching of the cross was foolishness ( maybe you can agree with this also), as it is written in 1 Corinthians 1:18, but now that I'm a believer, it's the power of God, amen! One thing is certain, that God wants to demonstrate His Love through you to this lost and dying world. God Bless |

399 | Should I "count" this one? | John 4:27 | inmyheart | 69962
The names of religions and religious terms receive capital letters. We read a story from the "Bible" about "God" and "Moses". NOTE: Pronouns referring to God should be capitalized. Non-specific use of the word "god" should not be capitalized. *The Bible talks about God and "His" disciples. *The Egyptians worshipped many different "gods". Ray, I hope this answers your question. "You" is referring to the Deity, use upper case, you can get more info on the below site; http://www.sheridanc.on.ca/career/tips/capital.htm God bless! |

400 | What is Mormon relation w/Jesus? | John 5:18 | inmyheart | 54634
Greetings Norrie, You should be refreshed :) I pray that you had a blessed time. I was just reading Matthew 7, let me quote from verses 21-23; "Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is is heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evil-doers! 1 John 4:1-6, is also a good reference. I am not familiar with any other religions :) They can pray over their food all they want in The Name of Jesus, but it will be meanningless if they don't know the Savior. Was this a compromise for your cousin? Or did your cousin compromise! Keep praying for your cousin situation, with God all things are possible. Once again, welcome back and God bless you |
