301 | so in other words it's not wrong | Rom 8:38 | glory777 | 14370
12besaved- Yes, it does say you should not sleep with anyone before marriage! Sex before marriage is called fornication - not nice words like sleeping with someone. No where does it condone it, and everywhere you see it in the bible, you see how much the Lord hates it. In the old testament, people who committed fornication were stoned. God inteneded for for two people who loved each other to marry, live under the blessing of God in the way He intended it. Then sex is to be celebrated as a gift. The rules God set for us are for our own good. They will give you peace and joy and comfort. If you go against the guidelines of God for our lives, it will bring pain, unhappiness, even sickness and death (as we see with the AIDS epidemic - not that it is a judgement of God, but because people turn away from the "one man-one woman" guidelines, they have brought pain and sickness not only on themselves, but to others). Yes, a person can be saved and sin, as in sleeping with someone outside of marriage, but if they intentionally do that, knowing it is against what God wants for them, they are not only committing fornication, they are also rebelling against God. So we not only have one sin, but two. My question would be, if one really loves God and has given their hearts to Jesus, do they want to knowingly commit the same sin that got Satan cast out of Heaven? The key word is knowingly. If you are having the question, you now have the answer. You choose God, or choose to rebel against His authority. Choose God, He will not fail you and will give you strength. If it is a situation you are in, confess it as sin, and get out of it. Look up 1 Cor. 7:2; Acts 15:20; 1 Cor 6:13,18 |

303 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | glory777 | 61487
If a question on the rapture comes up, I would applaud anyone who were to respond "Type in rapture in the search section"! There are some differences in the church that will not be resolved in this life, and we have overworked two of them lately in this forum. Debbie |

304 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | glory777 | 61775
As I stated, if anyone wants to view questions and answers - different viewpoints that have already been discussed to the max by people who are very knowledgable and have more than adequate education to discuss it, type it in the search section. Enough is enough. |

305 | Salvation through Jesus alone? Help!!! | Rom 10:9 | glory777 | 47103
shabbyshied- I was a Catholic also and manyof my family remain so. But I know that Abraham was not a Catholic and he was named righteous because of his belief. Roman 10:9 says that if you believe and confess you shall be saved. Roman 3:22-24 Eph 2:8-9 also stress the point that is faith in Jesus alone that gives salvation. But I think my favorite is Ephesians 2:8-9. Whatever WE do is works and works does not save. Blessings- Debbie |

306 | Can someone help w/my realtionship w/god | Rom 10:9 | glory777 | 65330
lost-n-MS- I pray that this site will be a blessing to you. First, you need to know all that being a Christian means. It means giving up to the Lord rulership of your life. It is not easy, but He has made so many promises to us that those who are not Christian can never comprehend the reality of it all. Peace, jooy, love, hope, etc. , and yes, trials and persecution, but through the rough times, you know that He is there and His love is eternal. He gave His very life in the most horrible way that can be imagined for YOU! Because He loves you and could not imagine going through eternity without you. But He will not force you to spend eternity with HIm. Nor will He force you trust in Him or make Him Lord in your life. If you choose to love Him, if you choose to give your life to Him, all it take is to repent of your sins (a turn around of 180 degrees - knowig the things you are doing or the life you are living is incomplete without HIm), acknowledging the Jesus Christ is God and you want Him to come into your heart and be Lord of your life forever. When you truly desire this, when you invite Him in, He will come in. He will revive the spirit you were born with and make it new in Him. You are His child. Then you need to find a bible-believing and teaching church. There are many denominations that teach what scripture has to say. And above all, read your bible. Get a version that is easy to understand and I would suggest starting with the book of the gospel of John. God bless you in your walk with the Lord. You will never walk alone. If you have any more questions - E-mail me. Debbie |

307 | Visit other churches? | Rom 16:16 | glory777 | 34036
Charis- In the area that I live in (VERY small town) we have the basic denominational churches and not a lot of variety. I have recently switched churches due to the fact that I was not being used as I wanted to be used. My schedule is also contrary to what a lot of the church scheduled events were. I now belong to another Pentecostal-Evangelical church that is very small and is a little distance away but in which I feel I am really contributing and that I am a valuable member. I have dreams of doing local prison outreach ministry and that is right in line with their dreams, also. We have group meetings where we learn to practically apply what the bible teaches and we are a family and all are equally important to the body of Christ. I have been in many of the local churches over the years and I see where different churches touch the hearts of different people and personalities. Unfortuantely, I have seen too many in all the churches that see church as just an obligation and once Sunday service is over - so is their concern and regard for how God sees them. How long until we know why you asked this question? Blessings to you- Debbie |

309 | Prophets after Christ | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 8650
Depends on what you define prophets. John the Apostle would be considered a prophet - he was given the revelation and so foretold. Also in Paul's letters (Acts 19:6 and I Cor.), he addresses the saints and tells them how to use and look at the gift of prophesy, so, yes, there were (and I believe are) prophets now who "forth tell". However, what they say had better be in agreement with what the Word of God says.
310 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 11627
Norrie If a husband is physically abusing either his wife or children she should get out of there as fast as she can! No qustions, just go! As far as mental abuse from her husband, if she is a Christian, she has an advantage. The scripture tells us all that we are in Christ, and with a strong belief and church family, she has the means to see herself as she really is. I Cor. 7:16 gives good advise about being "unevenly yoked". If one or the other is unbelieving, the one could have an influence on the other and both could be brought tothe kngdom. I have an unbelieving husband but i n the last couple years I have seen remarkable change in him and I believe and trust in the Lord that he will come to accept Him in a personal way. Submission is not something that is beat into you, but something you willingly lay down. I was not submissive. I was rebellious. When I learned that the Lord truly wanted me to stop trying to be the head of the household and put the house in the God given order, I was freed. My husband has the authority and will eventually have to answer to God for decisions he makes concerning our home. I will give advise, but if he takes it or not, the decision is up to him. I did my part and I will trust him to do what is best - whether it turns out that way or not. Will try to get more to you on this a little later. Your sister in Christ- Debbie |

311 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 11722
Norrie- I was also in a similar situation. My husband never actually hit me, but he would shove me into walls, etc. I had to end it before it ended me. But I also had a job and could marginally support myself. I think it is especially hard for a woman if she has little or no means of support. I do know there is help out there. Don't let that keep you in a situation. Talk to your pastor. Remember, you are a child of the King. He knew you and loved you before He even formed the world. HE DIED FOR YOU AND WOULD DO IT AGAIN!!!FOR YOU!!! You are precious in His sight. Don't ever let anyone tell you any different. Your life is precious to Him, and to us. You are a woman of value. God give you strength and wisdom and guidance. Look to His Word. Look to Him. But if you are being physically abused, again I say, Get Out! Debbie |

312 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 11724
Norrie, I just read all the posts to this point, and all I can say is Praise God it isn't you. I feel horrible for the other woman, and will keep her in prayer, but the people who write in to this forum are friends. So I thank God again. I think a lot of people have problems with the thought of submission. It is not being submissive to say "God says I must be submissive, so I guess I have to," but if it is understood that every successful organization and company has an order and in order for a family to be successful it must also have an order. God gave us that order. Man, as the head, must love His wife as God loved the church - sacrificially (you could ask my husband how much he sacrifices every time he gets our charge card bill!). The woman was made to be a helpmeet (helpmate) and so should be respected as an important member of the decision making process in the family. She should love and honor her husband, realizing his role is not an easy one. Submission becomes easier. It especially helps if both are true Christians who understand the roles they have. But even if only the wife knows her role, by accepting it, sometimes the husband will accept his. In the situation you are describing about a man who claims to be Christian, a lot of people claim to be Christian and have no idea what a Christian is. In an abuse situation, again I say get out. Not only could it result in severe injury to the person involved, but the effects can be severely damaging to any children. I think studies were done that showed the majority of abusive adults came from abusive homes. And those that married into an abusive situation had also seen those same situations growing up as a child. It is a hard situation. But I think when God talks about submitting, He wasn't talking about being beaten. Debbie |

313 | Is sex between singles a sin? | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 18951
JMR- I've read the responses to your question and I am in full agreement. I would only like to make an additional comment. When two people engage in sex, they become "one", soulmates, if you will. There is a bond formed, a part that is left with the partner and the partner leaves with you. This is wonderful in the confines of marriage and just as God planned for it. But outside of marriage it is a way for Satan to get his hooks in you in that area and to make a mockery of what God had planned for something precious. This is also something that he can thrown at you in the form of guilt and pull you a little farther away from God. Unmarried, even with the plans of marriage in the future, sex is still fornication and sin. My advice - admit to God you have sinned, renounce any hold Satan has on you in this area and ask that God's cleansing spirit keep you pure and strong. Then stay out of dark places with your girlfriend, spend a lot of time having others with you and make that commitment of respect and love for each other. God give you wisdom and strength. Debbie |

314 | To those of you talking about Tongues. | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 24486
Welcome Martha- First of all, tongues is nothing to be afraid of. 1Cor. 14 gives a good description of the use of tongues. Different denominations have different ideas about tongues as to whether it was for the early church or if it is for the present time also. I am Pentecostal and do believe that it is for here and now. I believe it is a gift available to anyone who is saved and asks. I believe it is not for indiscriminate use. Tongues are for private use only, in your own prayer life, and is speaking words that have no meaning to the speaker, and because of this unknowing, the Holy Spirit uses it to communicate to God prayer that is not influenced by what the "prayee" would have. As the passage in Corinthians states, the only time it should be used in a group setting is when there is one who can interpret what is being spoken. This is not to be done just randomly whenever you feel like it no matter what is going on in the service, no one takes control of you, you are in control of when the gift is used, and it should be used when the time is called for. Again, I stress the fact that you do not have to speak in tongues to be saved. Anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and has accepted His as their personal Savior, repenting of their sins, is just as saved as the one who speaks in tongues, no more and no less. God Bless you in the name the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Debbie |

316 | Creating converts to Islam? | 1 Cor 1:12 | glory777 | 32462
Brian.g- First, a true Christian should create an environment that would cause people to desire to come into the Christian faith, espescially a mature Christian. Sometimes new Christians are so on fire that they rely a lot on self and not on God in telling about their faith. We are to spread the Gospel, but not to overpower or shake the unbeliever into acceptance. I know, I've been there. Secondly, I don't believe anyone who calls himself a Christian has the right to cut down any other denomination. There are many denominations with the same basic belief (that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and salvation is only through faith in what He has done and by asking HIm to be Lord of your life and to repent of your sins)- merely different "frosting". But if a person is unfulfilled in the denomination they belong to, I don't believe it is wrong to tell him why you are satisfied with the church you belong to. This can be done without "cutting down" the other's denomination. I believe there are differences in the ways of worship to fit people's different comfort zones. Third, if you have truly put your faith in Christ, you have the witness of the Spirit that it is true. Recruiting is a bad choice of words. When I share my faith, I am not trying to "recruit". But if I have the opportunity to share with those of a cult or a religion that doesn't have the true facts of Jesus, I want to know what he believes so I can point out the truth that I know. I think it all boils down to love. If the reason you are reaching out to non-Christians or those who say they are but are unchurched, if you are doing it to feather your hat, your motives are wrong. If you do it because you love as Christ does, it will show. God bless- Debbie Now if the church they are going to are not teaching biblical truths (cults, etc.),yes, scripture should be pointed out to them. The Holy Spirit will guide them, if they are willing. |

317 | Consequences of premarital sex? | 1 Cor 6:16 | glory777 | 28942
Ramifications - knowing you are outside of God's will; carrying a part of that person with you and they having a part of you; memories that are inappropriate; possible disease; decreased respect for you and that partner; bringing the act of sex to a place God did not intend for it to be. Enough? God bless- Debbie |

318 | scripture that deals with husbands and w | 1 Cor 7:5 | glory777 | 66154
quelajerry- The scripture is saying that if there is a mutual agreement and for a set time, sexual relationships between husband and wives can be denied. Disagreements as a basis? Nah. Scripture says a lot about disagreements and anger. Eph. 4:26 is a prime example. Debbie |

319 | Why don't women have long hair? | 1 Cor 11:6 | glory777 | 7957
I think the long hair issue was a cultural thing. It would be like telling Christians in this culture (America) to dress modestly. In the early days of Christianity the women wore veils over their heads, so to shave her head or cut her hair was showing no respect for anything.
320 | Joe, baptism required for Lord's Supper? | 1 Cor 11:27 | glory777 | 63143
Hank- Maybe I'm missing something here, but what about an older believer who had been indoctrinated about the Lord's supper but had never had the ooertunity to be baptized? When you live in a very small community in the north where the facilities do not have a baptismal (is that what it is called?) but the river has to suffice - yes, there are a lot of areas like this - mine included- that we have to wait until we can chop the ice off the water before we can partake of the Lord's supper? I am blessed to belong to a church (another small one) that has a man-made pond behind the church. After a few years of being a rededicated believer I found a place that I could be baptized! (Did I mention I have a phobia about leaches - blood suckers we call them, also?) Debbie |
