41 | Do they who reign live 900 years? | Rev 20:1 | ariel levin | 224872
Shalom sonofmom, When I once questioned the need for the healing in the trees I was given a similar answer. I was told that the trees were there for those who were alive after the tribulation, but that their years would revert back to the 120 years God mandated toward the flood area. That seemed to make sense, since Rev. does speak of believers surviving to enter into the millenial era, while those who returned with Messiah would not need the healing as they would already be glorified. Does that sound like what the discussion was about? |

42 | Why the children? | Num 33:55 | ariel levin | 224858
Baja, I was responding, in part, because it seems a lot of folks believe that because an infant or a mentally challenged adult cannot discern the necessity of a savior that they are "without hope." (Perhaps I should have enquoted those words in my previous post?) Scripture does seem to support this view, but the love, mercy and grace that is our Father doesn't seem to line up with that view. Therefore, as with you, I can't prove it scripturally, there must be some kind of provision. Maybe the age of accountability, maybe something else - but there must be something. If every hair on our heads is numbered, then God must be in love with us. He surely knows that there are those who cannot reason with maturity, yet I'm sure He loves them every bit as much....It's just simply He hasn't deemed it necessary to tell us all His plans and ways - we're on a need-to-know basis :o) |

43 | Why the children? | Num 33:55 | ariel levin | 224856
Inquisitor, Along with all the great references that have already been given, I echo my "Amen!" Personally, I don't relish the fact that infants (as well as severely mentally challenged adults) seem to have no hope, but this is as scripture appears to read. (Perhaps, unbeknownst to us, God has made provision?) But, I digress. Wasn't that the MAIN reason our Messiah HAD to be born of the seed of a virgin and of the Spirit of God? He couldn't have been a sin-free, spotless, faultless sacrifice for humankind had He been conceived of a man and woman. |

44 | The error addressed in 2 Peter | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224777
Dear Beja, You're talking to a Torah-observant follower of Messiah! Of course I quote James 2:14-24 and Rev. 19:8 quite often. Even adding love to the equation is hollow if there are no works to show that faith and love. I don't intend to be naked in the world to come! Unfortunately, I do believe that there are many christians who do believe that because we are under grace we don't need to worry about sin - that somehow we are immune to it or the Holy Spirit just won't let us do the deed, but that is foolishness. I think Peter was warning against such folly. Shalom |

45 | The error addressed in 2 Peter | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224772
Good morning Beja, This is probably NOT the answer you are looking for, but here goes: Whenever I see the terms "law," "lawless," etc. in the NT, I substitute with the terms Torah, Torahless. Most people, even way bach when, abide by the laws of their dwelling, so law and lawlessness must refer to something else entirely. I'm not certain what antinomanianism (or nomanianism) is but I believe that the standard God set before Israel is for all redeemed people. (It's not a "pick and choose" sort of thing, but obviously not all commands are for everyone at any given time - but God's Torah is still alive and well.) Just my 2 cents worth |

46 | Man of God | 1 Kin 13:1 | ariel levin | 224703
Dear Inquisitor, Thank you greatly for your effort, I can see you put much work into it. But the Luke passage simply states that He was risen by the time the women arrived (it could have been only 5 minutes before or as much as 6 hours before their arrival). And all the other passages are narrative. If you truly believe that God did away with the seventh day Sabbath, then that makes Isaiah 58:13-14 (and so many other passages) a lie! At the very least, this is a wonderful promise that is not for Sunday christians. And I refuse to believe that either of those statements are true. I only mentioned this to begin with because of the strong emphasis you had put on Sunday worship. I have no desire to try to change yours or anyone's mind about Sat. or Sun. Thank you for listening. |

Dear Inquisitor, You said, " Instead we must follow His Sacred Patterns such as the Day of Worship on Sunday, the first day of the week." Reference please where He says Sunday, first day of the week or the passage shows conclusively that that is "His Sacred Pattern" (not a narrative, but a specific command and or action). Thanks in advance |

48 | six reason why Lord abondon Judah | Isaiah | ariel levin | 224673
Dear Azure, Of course, I couldn't know this for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Haven't you noticed that most of the homework type questions seem to come between Sept and May, with a few in July (Vacation Bible School)? That's why I assume that most are teens forced into bible courses they have no interest in, but they have to get a passing grade or face mom ahd dad. I could be wrong....:o) |

49 | six reason why Lord abondon Judah | Isaiah | ariel levin | 224649
Shalom, Azure, Here in the states we have what is known as private "christian" schools that many parents choose over public schools. These will have courses in Bible study that the student really has no choice in whether or not to attend - thus, all the homework questions. Sadly, the majority of the parents of these kids probably have never opened a bible themselves, they just pay to send their kids to these schools because they think the schools are safer than the free public schools. :o( |

50 | The true Gospel Jesus proclaimed | Matt 4:23 | ariel levin | 224554
Shalom 00123, You're still pretty vague because the list you gave me is speaking more of a state of being, rather than a list of commands to do or not do. I, for one, will not take it upon myself to try and see into someone else's inner being - that job belongs to the Holy Spirit. We are told that by "their" fruit we will know our brethren. If you are not seeing good fruit among the people in your church then I would suggest that you quit whining and start praying - it only takes one man to tear things down or build them up. Pray that the Spirit of conviction would move among your brethren beginning with you, and start things rolling. Do you do all those things you listed? In your few posts I haven't seen much poorness in spirit (I see haughtiness), nor meekness (I see harshness), you're not mourning (you're griping), nor making peace (but division). There is nothing wrong with seeing problems in a situation, but it is wrong to just fuss about it and not offer any solutions. What do you suggest the church should do to correct this? Like BradK says, "Speaking in love" be blessed |

Good evening 00123, May I ask exactly WHAT commands you are referring to? Give us some specifics please. Being Torah-observant, I don't usually get involved in these types of discussions but your complaint seems to be way too open-ended. You haven't named even one specific command that you think is not being kept. Help us out here and give some examples? Thank you |

52 | Jewish believers or not | 1 Pet 1:1 | ariel levin | 224498
Dear Beja, You are absolutely correct in that the promises are to all who are Avraham's seed. The arm of invitation went out to the goyim long before Messiah walked this earth - it just wasn't heard so well. But, I must agree with setonahill regarding Hos. 1:9. I read the Hebrew scriptures in Hebrew (slowly, like a third or fourth grader) but I know the words am, ammi, and goyim. Whenever the peoples being mentioned are Israel, the word used is Am (or ammi), for other nations, it's goyim (or goy). If the passage was discussing gentiles it should read lo ani goyim (mot my people) but it uses the ammi for my people (Israel). Could gentiles be included? Yes, and no, as they had always been invited but after conversion, they were no longer gentiles. If you know of any place in the Hebrew scriptures where the wording is ammi or am for gentiles, I'm open to correction....:o) |

54 | Actions to preach the kingdom of God | Luke 9:2 | ariel levin | 224445
Shalom 00123, We actually cannot answer that because we are not told in scripture. But to assume that they did what the Master did is not presumptuouse. They also probably followed the examples of previous Torah-teachers. They would go to the gates of the city and speak with the elders of the people there in hopes of finding lodging and a willingness to listen and learn. They would then go into the local synagogue or home where Moses would be taught on each Sabbath, and there they would preach the good news. If the elders would not receive them and their preaching they were to move on. This just about covers their physical actions. What they preached should not have been too much different than what the Master himself preached - Jer. 31:31 and all the places in the Scriptures where Messiah can be seen. Just my 2cents worth :o) |

55 | did jesus keep the law | NT general | ariel levin | 224429
Shalom rbradley, Yes, he did. His complaint was with Pharisaic Judaism of the day. They, like Rabbinical Jews of today, believed that the oral traditions of men were as inspired as the Scriptures. If you follow the Sermon on the Mount (from either Matthew or Luke) you'll see that Jesus says 'you've heard...' (this you won't find in the Torah, but in the Talmud, Mishna, Gemara), then he continues with, 'I tell you...' (and this you CAN find in the Books of Moses). This was one of the many reasons the Pharisees didn't like him, he held a mirror of themselves up for them to see and the picture wasn't pretty. |

56 | Making extra money for God Kingdom | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224403
Good morning Grace, shalom, These people were not selling things for the furtherance of God's Kingdom. The Temple had its own currency standard, its own farms for breeding the sacrifice animals as well. When the people would come from all over the known world for the pilgrimage feasts these money-changers went to work. They would exchange all currencies for the Temple shekel and would make large profits for themselves at the expense of their brethren (usually the very poor). By the time of Jesus, most of the sacrifice animals were also purchased through the temple as well and this just afforded the money-changers and lenders another way to cheat their own people. This practice was against Torah and infuriated Jesus. Is selling hot dogs and applebutter, etc. a good thing? I'll leave that up to the Holy Spirit - but it doesn't equate to what the money-changers were doing. |

57 | Why dont we live old law handed by moses | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224393
Shalom dgmawright, If we choose to believe that the Law has been "nailed to the cross," that it is no longer in effect then that means that there is no command for sacrifice. Why then would Jesus have to die for us? His death would have been unnecessary to fulfill a non-existant command for sacrifice. If Torah is no longer valid then there is no longer any witness against us. And without the Law, we have no sin as there is no document in place stating that we have transgressed. So, once again, it would be pointless for Jesus to have died for us if we have no sin and haven't broken any law. But because Torah was alive and valid and is still alive and viable and fully operational even today we need Jesus' blood to cleanse us. As for the word "Elohim" most scholars concur that it is used as a majestic plural, kind of like Queen Elizabeth saying something like, "...we think it's time for us to get some rest now, goodnight..." The only time the word would actually mean more than one god is when the passage is clearly speaking of the "gods of Egypt" or the "gods" of any of the pagan nations, but certainly never of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. |

58 | What are ghosts? | Rom 12:2 | ariel levin | 224383
Shalom findrichard, I'm not sure if these would fall under the catagory of "ghosts" (and certainly not the TV brand), but what of Samuel's appearance to Saul under the medium? the appearance of Moses on the Mt. of Transfiguration (I don't include Messiah, as he hadn't been crucified yet, nor Elijah as we're told he was taken alive), but Moses died and was buried by Abba himself? You can email me (in my profile) with your thoughts if you wish - I say this cause this particular discussion, though interesting, could only be speculation as there are only these few passages to work with..... :o) |

60 | Is it bibical for a church to require? | John 8:7 | ariel levin | 224311
Justme, shalom I read your note but I stand firm that youth need to be treated differntly from adults. It's a proven medical fact that the frontal lob which manages decisions, discerns right and wrong, etc. is not fully developed till after the 21st year in a person. Approaching our youth in the same way you would approach a 35 year old in any given situation just won't work. Being born again or saved or whatever you want to call it does NOT speed up the growth of the brain. I don't particularily disagree with the approach concerning an adult in that state of distress but I don't believe it is what is called for where youths are concerned. |
