461 | Does God lead us into temtation? | James 1:13 | Pastor Glenn | 66315
cwade, First notice these related scriptures: James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Proverbs 3 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Since all things work together for good and God makes a way of escape. Then our self preparation prayer should be to prepare us to follow God's escape route. Therefore "Lead us not into temptation" is so that our judgement is not so clouded by lust the we cannot see the way of escape. Pastor Glenn |

462 | Which teaching | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 66111
Meredith, As you mentioned, the faith of the woman of Canaan, was great. And notice that she was an outsider. But she didn't let that stop her from coming to Jesus. Her faith brought healing to her daughter. Here is another example of an outsider with faith: Luke 4 27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian." “…but only the Syrian; for none besides had faith to apply himself to the prophet for a cure. Christ himself often met with greater faith among Gentiles than in Israel. And here he mentions both these instances, to show that he did not dispense the favour of his miracles by private respect, but according to God's wise appointment.” http://www.gospelcom.net/eword/comments/luke/mh/luke4.htm It is bad when outsiders can come to God and trust Him more than those of us that attend every church service, while being fearful and unbelieving about everything that God wants to do in our lives. 463 | Jesus' faith teaching vs Word of Faith? | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 66026
dennis, I thought that maybe EdB was waiting for me to state "I DO NOT" believe also. See my post at ID# 65355. I don't know what else can be said to him. Pastor Glenn |

464 | Which teaching | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 66018
EdB, You end your post with, "...I’m at a lost to understand why you seem to defend WOF ." I fail to see what you mean by that. How do I "seem" to defend WOF? Before you answer read: "About Postings Postings should be biblically based and whenever possible include supporting Bible references. 465 | Which teaching | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 65994
Amen graceful, Strong faith in God helps us to keep things in perspective. Whenever we get afraid, we should ask ourselves if we are doubting God's ability to bring us through. |

466 | Which teaching | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 65992
Meredith, That is exactly what I see. But, before he became afraid, he trusted Jesus enough to step out on the water. One interesting point is that there is no record of anyone else in scripture that walked on water. Also, he became afraid after he took his eyes off of Jesus and instead, began to look at the waves. 467 | Which teaching | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 65990
EdB, I think "word of faith" teaching: 1. tries to tell God what He must do for us. 2. says that our words are containers that give us power to change reality whether God wants us to or not. 3. says simply "name it and claim it" prosperity. 4. says to pray "thy will be done" is a sin. However, it is better to focus on Jesus' faith teaching. Pastor Glenn |

468 | Which teaching | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 65835
mbooker, Be warned that this is a subject that some on this forum hate. Any study of faith healing or miracles of faith is labeled by some as giving credibility to Word of Faith theology. It is said that Word of Faith teachings today 1. tries to tell God what He must do for us. 2. says that our words are containers that give us power to change reality whether God wants us to or not. 3. says simply "name it and claim it" prosperity. 4. says to pray "thy will be done" is a sin. Even after I denied all of these teachings, I have been accused of being stubborn and ignorant for not reading more books about these false teachings. I chose Matthew 14:29 as a starting scripture in hope that proper interpretation (Jesus' faith teaching) would dispel false interpretation (Word of Faith). By studying the proper interpretation we should "become so familiar with the truth, that when a counterfeit looms on the horizon, it will be easy to spot." Enter this thread at your own risk. 469 | Question about the "ZERO" theory. | Dan 1:4 | Pastor Glenn | 65788
zerotheory, Within your original thread you will notice question marks near a few of the replies if you scroll to the bottom of the window. You should notice two set of questions from me. From your original post I was wondering if you were a christian (by accepting Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, as your saviour). By the way, I think that you may find the book of Daniel quite interesting. Daniel 1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. |

470 | Bible facts on retarded kids? | Luke 18:17 | Pastor Glenn | 65599
jadedust, Whether mentally or physically retarded, they are destined to have an easier time accepting Christ and receiving eternal life. Spiritually, we are all retarded. We were designed with a spiritual nature that is missing until we accept Jesus. Adam and Eve lost their glorious nature the day that they sinned. Also, retarded children by definition will always have a dependency that gives them a meek and humble nature that the rich and independed of us lack. So we are all born retarded. Luke 18:15 Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 16But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 17Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. Luke 18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 471 | Do you have a family member or friend? | Rom 10:9 | Pastor Glenn | 65560
James4jesus, You need to talk to the guy on your job that gave you the bible. He can answer your questions face to face and lead you to a good church. Go with him to bible class and Sunday school. In the meantime, do you have questions concering this scripture (Romans 10:9) or some other scripture? My church is in Chicago, Illinois. Are you nearby? Pastor Glenn |

472 | attempt to merge philosophy, logic, and? | Gen 1:26 | Pastor Glenn | 65550
Zerotheory, It souds like an attempt to merge philosophy, logic, and science. Science is related only to this physical universe and the present rules of physics. Since God is not bound by the laws of physics, isn't this a hopeless attempt? Also, is Stephen Hawking involved in formulation of this "Zero Theory"? Pastor Glenn |

473 | Do you believe in the one true God? | Gen 1:26 | Pastor Glenn | 65531
Roger Wilco, Definition of eternal: Being without beginning or end; existing outside of time. There is no such thing as eternal sons (small s) of God. This applies to Jesus Christ Son (big S) of God alone. You said, "Galations 3:26, clearly states we are all "sons of God" through faith in Christ. Romans 8:12-17 elaborates. As Christians, we all hope for eternal life." How do we know that someone has faith in Christ without asking? My questions were not intended to tear anyone down. I clearly stated: "Sorry for asking so many questions, but it would help very much so that we know how to respond to your questions." Pastor Glenn |

474 | Do you have a family member or friend? | Rom 10:9 | Pastor Glenn | 65429
James4jesus, May I first ask who was it that pointed you to this scripture (Romans 10:9)? There is not a better scripture than this to start with. Also, do you have a family member or friend that is already leading you? Pastor Glenn |

475 | Do you believe in the one true God? | Gen 1:26 | Pastor Glenn | 65423
zerotheory, Woe, You said, "I think everyone and everything is the eternal Son of God. " Can you tell us more about yourself? What is your religious background? Do you believe that the bible is from the one true God? Do you believe in the one true God of the bible? Since you are still forming your opinion, does that mean that you are very young? Sorry for asking so many questions, but it would help very much so that we know how to respond to your questions. |

476 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65422
Brother EdB, Why didn't you say this to gracefull 20 posts ago? They say you can catch more flies with honey. Now put down your weapon. Or are you like one of King David's mighty men: 2 Samuel 23:10 He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and HIS HAND STUCK TO THE SWORD. The LORD brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder.(;-) Pastor Glenn |

477 | Pastor not visiting the sick and Widows? | James 1:27 | Pastor Glenn | 65421
Mae64, Here is what the bible says: James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Acts 6 Seven Chosen to Serve 1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,[1] because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. 3Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; 4but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Mat 25:34Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' 41"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' 44"Then they also will answer Him,[4] saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45Then He will answer them, saying, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." Ezekiel 34 Irresponsible Shepherds 1 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2"Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, "Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: "Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. God, the True Shepherd 11 "For thus says the Lord GOD: "Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. 12As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day. 478 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65359
EdB, You said, "...the reason I fight WOF is I consider this false teaching to be the most harmful challenge to true Christianity of any lie placed on this earth... ...Everything circles around me in society God is at my beck and call. Humanity is the center of the universe, God has to respond to man. " This is part of the sin condition as men walk in the flesh, rather than in the spirit. False WOF teaching is just one small vulnerability of church goers, for some it is lust for sex, or lust for money, or pride. There is nothing new about these things: 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. Doers--Not Hearers Only James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. 26If anyone among you[2] thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. 27Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. 479 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65355
EdB, I do not believe in the WOF movements "name it and claim it" prosperity sayings. I also believe that "thy will be done" is not a sin since Jesus said it. I am not at all now and niether do I plan to be involved in WOF teaching. I am saying that we should not throw out the baby with the bath water. God has made promises and covenants that He will not break and we do need to know, and understand, God's covenants with us: Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? The following scripture is not directly related to this subject, but I just like to read it: 2 Peter 3 8But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[1] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. |

480 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65343
Hank, While God wants us to learn of Him, all of our wisdom and knowledge is always far shorter than His, so He is not impressed. Even the great CRI better make sure that they are not fighting God when they attack ministries: Acts 5:39 but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it--lest you even be found to fight against God." Acts 23:9 Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees' party arose and protested, saying, "We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God." Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. Isaiah 55:8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. Psalm 2:2The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3"Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." 4He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The LORD shall hold them in derision. Psalm 59:8But You, O LORD, shall laugh at them; You shall have all the nations in derision. Pastor Glenn |
