46 | Do we overthrow the Law? | Rom 3:31 | Elice Fox | 53817
Matt 5:17-20 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law of the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. anyone who breaks one of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. for I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus spoke this after The Beatitudes.pray this helps also.

49 | women not allowed to be involved? | 1 Cor 14:34 | Elice Fox | 53764
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Jews are still Jews, Gentiles are still Gentiles and men and women are still men and women, what Christ abolished is discrimination for such differences. everyone who comes to Christ must come the same way: through faith and repentance
50 | women not allowed to be involved? | 1 Cor 14:34 | Elice Fox | 53767
1 Tim 2:11 A women should learn in quietness and full submission. Quest Bible Study why silence the women. It's possible Paul means that women in all times and cultures are not to say anything in church or to have authority over men. that would seem to be the conclusion when he says Eve, created second, was first to be deceived (vv 13-14). the difficulty with this view, is that elsewhere Paul recognizes the authority of women for teach- ing and evangelizing (Rom 16:1-3 Phil.4:2-3). some think Paul was simply giving advice here on how Chrisitans could accomodate them- selves to imperfect cultural conditions just as he did when he advised slaves without advocating the institution of slavery 6:1-2. Timothy faced a situation where false teachers (probably church elders) were preying on women young widows in particular. restricting their public involve- ment in church would undercut the support of the false teachers and gain respect for the church in the Ephesian community at large. Paul wanted to present the Ephesian church in the best possible light so the gospel would have a better chance of being heard in an essentially hostile environment. he also wanted women to learn ( something denied to Jewish an Greek women) under calm, peaceful conditions. when we see Paul's rules in this context, we see that he was recommending things to help the church gain integrity in the community.people today disagree about how far those restrictions should be applied.pray this helps
51 | ... | 1 Cor 15:45 | Elice Fox | 61874
Genesis 4:14 Life Application Bible: we have heard about four people so far- Adam, Eve, Cain and Able. so two questions arise: 1) why was Cain worried about being killed by others.2) where did he get his wife? Adam and Eve had numerous children they had been told to "fill the earth" ( 1:28). Cain's guilt and fear over killing his brother were heavy, and he probably feared repercussions from his family if he was capable of killing ,so were they. the wife Cain chose may have been one of his sisters or a niece. the human race was still genetically pure and there was little fear of side effects from marrying relatives.
52 | Angels at the door? | Gal 1:8 | Elice Fox | 83436

53 | Angels at the door? | Gal 1:8 | Elice Fox | 83437
Gal 1:8 what these judaizers were doing was so bad that Paul used strong words t denounce their actions. he said that even if an angel from heaven comes preaching another message, let that angel be cursed forever. if an angel came and preached another message he would not be from heaven, no matter how he looked(2 Corin 11:14-15) Paul warns that Satan and his angels can turn themselves into angels of light. hear he invokes a curse on an angel who spreads a false gospel, a fitting response to an emissary of hell. Paul uses strong language because he is dealing with a life-and death issue.(Life Application Bible)
54 | Eph 2:14 | Eph 2:14 | Elice Fox | 88234
Life Application Bible Eph 2:14 Christ has broken down the walls people build between themselves. since these wall have been removed, we can come to real unity with people who are not like us. this is true reconciliation, because of Christ's death we are all one family. Eph 2:14. our anger against each other has disappeared.we can all approach God through the Holy Spirit. we are no longer strangers to God and we are all apart of a beautiful temple with Christ as or cornerstone. there are many barriers that can divide us from other Christians, age, appearance, intelligence, political persuasion, economic status, race, theological perspective.one of the best ways to stifle Christ's love is to cater only to those for whom we have natural affinity. Fortunately, Christ has knocked down the barriers and unified all believers in one family. His cross should be the focus of our unity. The Holy Spirit helps us look beyond the barriers to the unity we are called to enjoy.
55 | I would like info on history and audienc | 1 Thessalonians | Elice Fox | 54146
1 Thessalonians was writen by Paul the Apostle around A.D.50 it speaks to a culture filled with seductive images and sexual pressures.it brings eternal perspective to discussions of material things. it questions the secular values that undermine God's ways. How are Christians sanctified? 1 Thess 4:3-12.to be sanctified means to be holy or to have the quality of holiness. it means to become more like Jesus, dedicated and set apart for God's purposes. some believe sanctification occurs miraculously and instantaneouly. others see it as a process that continues over a lifetime still a miracle of God. many continue these views to say that believers are sanctified in Christ and continue to be sanctified as they grow in him.Paul lists three areas of life where sanctification can occur. (1) in a relationship with a spouse.sexual purity cannot be compromised; sexual intimacy is for marriage alone. (2) in relationships between Christians trust and love should energize relationships in the church; believers can't live double lives and serve God effectively(vv6,9). (3) in relationships with all others.decent, orderly living according to God's principles should win the respect of those outside the church(vv 11-12)with God's help we can choose to obey, him, living in line with his will 1Thess 5:23,24. May God himself the God of peace sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.pray this helps you.

1 Thess 5:1-3 Life Application Bible. Efforts to determine the date of Christ's return are foolish.don't be misled by anyone who claims to know. we are told here that no one knows and that even believers will be surprised. the Lord will return suddenly and unexpectedly, warns Paul, so be ready! because no one knows when Jesus will come back to earth, we should be ready at all times.suppose he returned today.how would he find you living? are you ready to meet him? live each day prepared to welcome him.
57 | let us not sleep, but watch. | 1 Thess 5:6 | Elice Fox | 54367
"watch" means to stay awake and keep alert.Paul is not asking his readers to watch for the day of the Lord but rather to be spiritually prepared in order to escape the wrath of the day of the Lord .if we wish to escape the wrath of God, we must remain spiriually awake and morally alert, and we must continue in faith, love, and the hope of salvation(vv8-9); since the faithful will be protected from God's wrath through the rapture. we must not fear the day of the Lord, but must wait for his Son from heaven Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

1 John 3:8 says if we claim to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Quest Bible states.why can't we be free of sin? some believe we can live a sinless life of perfection(Rom 6:6) others say while perfection is not possible this side of life, a changed life is (2 Cor 5:17). some people speak of the varying effects of sin, concluding that we can be free from the penalty and the oppressive power of sin, but as long as we remain in a fallen world, they say, we will continue to confront the presence of sin.
