Greetings Dashel, Reading the Bible is a noble thing to do but the strange part is that it’s nearly impossible to understand the Old Testament with out the understanding of the key that is found in the New Testament. The Bible, as a collection of books, can not be understood with what we call human IQ. God the Holy Spirit has to be the one that educates people to the truth contained in Scripture by bringing their human spirit to life for the cognition of spiritual truth contained in Scripture. 1 Cor. 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." The word “see” in the following verse carries the connotation of perception or understanding. My Advice would be to start in the New Testament at the book of Mathew and read at least through to the book of Revelation before attempting to read any of the Old Testament. Have a great day, CDBJ |

CDBJ, I agree, but I have spent almost all of my time in the New Testament. I have never read through the whole Bible, so I am trying to do so over the next few months. I have kept postits by some of the questions I had but couldn't study because I am reading too fast. This was one that my friend didn't really know the answer to so I thought maybe I could ask here. I assure you I've been a Christian for a few years now and I'm in a good Bible teaching church. Dashel |

Greetings, That's the object! With out a living human spirit and the guidance or teaching of the Spirit we can’t understand God truth. The most important issue for one who is truly a born again Christian is that they remain in fellowship so that they can be taught. The exercise of I John 1:9 is the best way to insure the fellowship problem. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Have a great day, CDBJ |
