English does not provide us with many mechanisms for rendering verbal deference. Perhaps our general bearing carries the best message of our respect for ordained ministers. I also use the title "Pastor" for those in my own tradition. | ||||||

What do you think Paul meant when Jesus told him to write, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the (tradition) of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ, Col 2:8? So... er... you actually think that when I use the phrase "my own tradition" that I'm talking about an inherited set of ancestral dictums that stand in the place of God's commands? :-) That's why I didn't say "denomination." You might have thought I was talking about money. |
