I have asked the following question before in my early days of being a christian and studying the Bible. "Why did God kills" i.e. re Amalakites, etc and have accepted the probable reasons explained then. Perhaps they really deserve to be wiped out. I am asking the same question again with the recent events happening in South East Asia i.e. the high number of death in the tsunami tragedy. If God is so full of grace and that He loves us so much that I believe Him to be, why is He allowing such massive deaths to happen? Please teach me how to explain to a non believer that God loves us that he sacrificed His son for our sins but then he still allowed such tragedy to happen. When I saw a news footage of a man on CNN who lost everything, wife, kids, house, I asked myself. Why? |

We might also ask why God brought the flood upon the world during the time of Noah, in which all perished with the exception of 8 individuals, It was due to the wickedness upon the earth that the Lord cleansed it with the waters of the Flood. Maybe we should ask ourselves the following question Has the wickedness upon the earth once again reached such a level of wickedness where God possibly needs to cleanse it. We know from Scripture that in the days of Noah He cleansed the earth with the waters of the flood. We also know from Scripture that the next time that the earth will be totally cleansed, it will be cleansed with fire. I do know God is Sovereign. And I trust that He knows what is best. There has already been alot of coverage on this subject, but I had a few thoughts that might encourage those that still may still struggle with this. In Deut 30:19 Moses tells the Isrealites choose life, but man as habit will have it man has a penchant for choosing death. God gave us freedom of will. People choose to turn away from God.Ro3:23 6:23. We wittness the consequences of those choices everyday. It's simple but its hard. Know one likes to see people destroyed or loved ones hurt. But all is not hopless, We serve a merciful and compassionate God. 2Peter 3:9b He is patient with you,not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Jer 29:11-14a Tells us God has a plan for us. It tells us also that if we look for him with all our heart we will find him. We have the privlege of helping people to find God. With all the tragedy going on there is still hope and we we can share that hope with those who have none. I love you guys lionheart |

Good reply lionheart I also believe that God can take all the circumstances that occur and use them for His glory. Sometimes the only way God seems to be able to get peoples attention is through diaster which often results in the lose of life. Many times these circumstances or pain are the tool that forces those who would otherwise never seek after God to now seek Him out. Pain sometimes is the only broadcast system people are atuned to Blessings New Creature |

Absolutly brother. I beleive with all my heart that God can take any situation and work it for the best. He can take a situation that means death and work it for life. Job is a prime example of what God will do for his people. Ro 8:28 Col 1:27 Christ in you the hope of glory. We really do have something to offer those who are so desperatly needing the hope of God in their lives. God Bless you lionheart |
