Bible Question:
I have asked the following question before in my early days of being a christian and studying the Bible. "Why did God kills" i.e. re Amalakites, etc and have accepted the probable reasons explained then. Perhaps they really deserve to be wiped out. I am asking the same question again with the recent events happening in South East Asia i.e. the high number of death in the tsunami tragedy. If God is so full of grace and that He loves us so much that I believe Him to be, why is He allowing such massive deaths to happen? Please teach me how to explain to a non believer that God loves us that he sacrificed His son for our sins but then he still allowed such tragedy to happen. When I saw a news footage of a man on CNN who lost everything, wife, kids, house, I asked myself. Why? |
Bible Answer: We might also ask why God brought the flood upon the world during the time of Noah, in which all perished with the exception of 8 individuals, It was due to the wickedness upon the earth that the Lord cleansed it with the waters of the Flood. Maybe we should ask ourselves the following question Has the wickedness upon the earth once again reached such a level of wickedness where God possibly needs to cleanse it. We know from Scripture that in the days of Noah He cleansed the earth with the waters of the flood. We also know from Scripture that the next time that the earth will be totally cleansed, it will be cleansed with fire. I do know God is Sovereign. And I trust that He knows what is best.
