Hi FytRobert, In answer to your question: I noticed in your personal profile that you speak of being in Christ, how did you come to be in the position of being in Christ, i.e. how did you get there? CDBJ |

Well, in what I will call a forum nutshell here is you answer, and I probably won’t regret it until you respond back to me, maybe! The reason that I commented on your salutation was because it was the only part of your question that wasn’t contrary to Scripture. If possibly your method of being in Christ happened to follow the same lines as your question then there would be another issue that should be addressed which would take precedence over answering your question directly. Reason, 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I don’t ever remember posting with you on the forum and I was trying to feel you out, as it were. Your statement was, and I quote, “As a christian, which of the following will earn more points?” The direct answer to your question, without selecting either of the limited choices that you suggest, 1 or 2 would be in, Koine English, as follows. God is only impressed with the work that His Son, Jesus Christ, did for us on the cross. Anything that we try to do to impress the Holiness of God is a slap in the face to His righteousness. Be it a Christian or anyone else for that matter we are under the grace provision of God and can’t really earn points as it were with God. The first taste of this would be when one puts all of his hope for eternal life in the person of Jesus, God’s Son. Col. 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Those in Christ, who have received Him by grace through faith, are to continue this same pattern through out their Christian life, or walk, knowing that they can’t earn or deserve anything from God on the basis of what they do. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. That kind of puts the kibosh on the point system if you get my drift. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. With a point system the only one that is impressed is the one cranking out the points not a Holy God!!!!!!! Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hi CDBJ, I appreciate your prompt reply with a few quotations from the Bible.Though the urge inside me was to immediately air my views on the few points mentioned by you, I was unable to do so until now due to time constraint. I feel that animosity was present in your reply; appended below are just two excerpts and my comments: 1 You said:"With a point system the only one impressed is the one cranking out the points not a Holy God." My comments:Before I read your reply I believe my mind was in a state of peace , happiness and always looking forward to make progress in my studies of the truth. But now after digesting all that you have so kindly imparted,I am not so sure of my own mind-is it still stable or going the cranky way? 2.You said:"The reason that I commented on your salutation was because it was the only part of your question that wasn't contrary to Scripture. If possibly your method of being in Christ happened to follow the same line as your question then there would be another issue that should be addressed." My comments:My innocent question was judged to be contrary to Scripture and I was harshly admonished. Now my salutation is under suspect. What comes next? I am envious of you that God has guided you well to acquire a very sound knowledge of the Bible. As for me,my hunger for God's precios Words was insatiable but now I am having second thought.Because if I were to be too well versed in God's Words I might suffer the consequential tendency or inclination to be critical and confrontational instead of extending a helpful hand to guide those who are not so fortunate to be well versed in the Words of our Lord. If my innocent question posted on7-4-04 has caused you to feel the way you have demonstrated yourself in words, I tender my appologies herewith and I would take this opportunity to assure you that there was no intention what so ever to cause ill feeling except to seek guidance. |

Hi FytRobert, For crying out loud get off of the pity party and relax a little bit; I didn’t present the post with the idea that you would go outside and chop your head off. I have been a Christian about 40 years now and you wouldn’t believe some of the hundreds of stories I have heard with regards to being a Christian. I could present my gentle little loving stories, which wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans, or I can give you the truth of the word of God, chapter and verse, which you can either accept or reject. Sugar coating something might make it more palatable but experience has taught me that the only one who profits is the one who goes directly to God’s word and check out the verses in context for them selves. Every thing that people do or say that adds to Scripture, to make it taste better, take that part with a grain of salt; do a lot of studying to make sure what the say is factual. I guess I am getting to old to be a gushy maudlin sentimentalist! God’s word does it’s work in spite of my short comings. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Relax a little and don’t let me bend you out of shape, CDBJ |

CDBJ:I Read you responses to FytRobert. Between reading this thread and just responding to a person who made a referal to me to look up such and such a number, rather than either giving me a respectful kind response, or just letting someone else answer the question, I feel quite discouraged! Where "for crying outloud" is the Christian love and kindness gone? Is everyone so loaded up with hostiality that Christian love has become hard to show oneanother? I have seldom been this foward about my feelings. Perhaps we need to be a LOT MORE LOVING and understanding than so sharp with the keyboard. Blessings CDBJ. justme |

Hi justme, I have to agree with you in part, I guess I’m not Rebecca from Sunny Brook Farm. Sometimes I come across too harsh with my responses and the way I try to convey things. I should probably cash it in because you are the third person in the last Month that has told me this. I think I am starting to do more harm then good! It sounds like I am becoming as the following. 1 Cor. 13:1-2 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. CDBJ: No, not cash it in! I have found that in my Christian walk there have been time that things have worn me to a frazel. Perhaps, but I don't imagine so, I feel like I am the only one that gets down. We all go into times that we don't seen to communicate what we realy want to say. Now to as you being Rebecca from Sunny Brook farms, none of us are either! However none of the rest of you have the joy of living next to Lake Of The Ozarks in Missouri, so I don't expect the same kind of enviormential happiness as we have here. CDBJ we all have the naturanature of a sinful person, and yest we all are really very small in God's eyes, but we ane not nothing to the LORD or He would not have sent His SON to rsave us. We do indeed have grate value to the LORD. Thank you for your kind respectful response, may God Bless you! justme |
