Loren - In a nutshell, controversy about Bible translations is of two kinds. There is disagreement over the textual matters, i.e., over which of the ancient biblical manuscripts are the most reliable. Then there is disagreement over translation philosophies, i.e., over how literal a translation should be. This can run the gamut from a formal, severely literal word-for-word approach to the other end of the translation spectrum, which would be a loose paraphrase. The NASB is a product of the literal school. The Living Bible is a product of the loose paraphrase school. There are many gradations in between. .... The Septuagint is the most ancient translation of the Old Testament. It is invaluable to language scholars and Bible translators, as well as to historians and theologians. We owe much to the Septuagint and it continues to be studied to this day. --Hank | ||||||

I bought it because of Charles Stanlye ministry that in english uses extensevely NASB and I want to give it a try in spanish. Does LBLA have any direct relationship or involvment with Roman Church like SBU? |

Loren I'm not sure what you mean does LBLA have direct relationship or involvement with Roman church. For nearly 2000 years the Roman church has preserved the Word of God. So some degree all translations has a connection to Rome. Also to the best of my knowledge and with the exception of the disagreement over the Apocryphal books there has never been any valid charge of the church of Rome altering any ancient autographs to promote one doctrine over another. TO explain me correctly is about the protestant point of view about the influence of the Roman Church has in the development and translations of new bibles and the development of an ecumentical agenda: une church, one bible. Please go to http://www.biblebelievers.com/BibleVersions.html and http://www.amen.net/lb/english/ where you can find info. I am very happy about Lockman putting all the names of the translations and colaborators in the Biblia delas Americas. Thanks. |

Loren The first site you listed is a die hard if it ain't KJV it ain't God speaking. That is total nonsense. The other site I think is basically the same way except in the Spanish Bible arena. Personally I think you waste your time reading these sites. Let's talk fact the Catholic church had control and preserved most of the manuscripts used to translate most English versions today. No one has ever found a provable instance where the scripture was intentionally modified to produce or support Catholic doctrine. The whole claim that the Catholic church wants to pollute the world with false scripture is nonsense. If that were true they had their chance from about 300 Ad to 1500 AD when theirs was the only Bible in existence. Read the American Bible, for the most part it reads like any other Bible. EdB |
