Rebuttal ... Gen 46:26 and Lev 12:5 ....... Casiv, so if you add the height and breadth of one idol is the basis for making 66 idol worship. WRONG. I would say multipy 60 by 6, then you get 360. Which I think was the number of days in a year. Would you make 360 the number of idol worship? Plus, Gen 46:26 and Lev 12:5 have the number 66 and is this related to idol worship? Yes or no. I love to refute "experts" ... E.W Bullinger is WRONG also about "Separation and Division" (Gen 1:6-8) being related to the number 2. What about Gideon when he divided his men into three companies (Jud 7:16)? "Separation and Division" is not just related to two or three. I challange you to search the Scriptures no matter what man speaks (Acts 17:11), Searcher |

Greetings Searcher! Excellent point! The method of arriving at some of these numbers is totally subjective. Who is to say that we shouldn't divide 60 by 6? Thus, 10 would be the number of idol worship! This has been my objection to all the number schemes that I have yet seen. They are totally subjective and go far beyond what the text actually says. We don't treat any other literature in this way. If I wrote on the forum that I was going on vacation in 66 days, would everyone assume that I was going to worship an idol? :-) I do agree with Casiv that every word of the Bible is important, and this includes the numbers. But, the numbers in Dan. 3:1 are important because they tell us how tall and wide the statue was. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
