Hello Kindest, With all due respects to my counterparts, numbers in the Bible are, in my opinion and Dr. E.W. Bullingers, very significant to the understanding of scripture. I am not talking about bible codes or other wild schemes, but rather biblical mathematics which prove the word true and upon understanding will enlighten the reader to deeper meanings within the text. I don't understand how anyone can say that anything in the word is not important. Remember satan was tempting Jesus and Jesus said that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. I believe this includes numbers. Bullinger has a book called "Numbers in Scripture" that would be very beneficial to your understanding. Some examples are as follows: One - Unity Two -Union, Division, Witnessing Three -Resurrection,Divine Completeness and Perfection Four - Creation---World Five - Grace or God's Goodness Six - Weakness of man, Evils of satan, Manifestation fo sin Seven - Completeness, Spiritual, Perfection Eight - New Birth, New creation, or new beginning Nine - Fruit of Spirit, Divine completeness from the lord Ten - Testimony, Law, Responsibilty Fifteen -Rest Twenty - Redemption Thirty - The Blood of Christ, Dedications Forty - Trials, Probation, and Testings Forty-Two - Israel's oppression--Lords Advent Forty-Five - Preservation Fifty - Holy Spirit Sixty-six - Idol Worship Seventy - Universality, Israel and Her Restoration One Hundred - Gods Election of Grace-- Children of Promise This is not a complete list. However go back to the scripture which brought this question to the forum and see if what is being numbered matches the meaning I have listed. Please do not let any man or woman hinder you from studying every single thing in the Bible, because I believe if it were not imortant it would not be there. Hope this helps. Peace, Casiv |

Need Scripture support ... Casiv, BTW sixty-six is never associated with idol worship. So you think the number two is both union and division ... aren't these opposites? Now go search EVERY instance of these numbers as they appear in the Bible and see if what you say is true. Do you understand? Searcher |

Hello Searcher, Thanks for your question. I appreciate your zeal in the pursuit of scriptural documentation. Please see Dan 3:1 for the proof you are asking for. Dan 3:1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Kindly see that threescore and six equals 66 and this verse confirms that 66 is idol worship which is what Nebuchadnezzar made every one bow down and do. Regarding your other question, please find that the number two is associated with Separation and Division (Gen 1:6-8) though afterwards it is associated with union in testimony (Deut. 17:6 and Rev 11:3) I hope these help with your understanding of the importance of numbers in scripture. Thanks for your questions. Peace, Casiv PS- Ed is going to get answer soon. Thanks for your concern. I do understand that when new people come to this site they need to see Love which is not apparent in the world very much anymore. Thanks. I learned the numbers in scripture from E.W Bullinger, are you familiar with who that is? He is and was a very intelligent Man of God. Peace. |

Greetings Casiv! This is an example of why people have so little patience with your use of numbers. The simply fact is that Scripture doesn't say what you say! The meanings of numbers are totally made up. For instance, take the number 66. It occurs first in the Bible in Gen. 46:26 (as Steve pointed out in another post). There is refers to the direct descendants of Jacob. So, why can't we say that 66 stands for Family. In fact, in one of your other posts, I seem to recall that you said the first occurances are the most important. Then, (as Steve also pointed out in his other post), the number 66 is used in Lev. 12:5 to refer to the period of purification for a woman. So, why can't 66 stand for Purification. This is why the use of spiritual meanings to numbers is a sham. It is totally subjective and Scripture itself never assigns any meaning to any number other than Rev. 13:18. When you can show me a verse that says, "66 stands for idol worship", then I will believe you. Until then, Dan. 3:1 simply means that the statue was 90 feet tall and 9 feet wide! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
