1 | meaning of numbers in the bible | NT general Archive 1 | EdB | 21243
Kindest There are many people that put special meaning to numbers found in the Bible. I think this is bred out of Rev. 13:18 where it is talking about the mark of the beast and says calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, His number is 666. Also since the trinity is made up of 3 and creation was done in 7 days etc. However with a few exceptions there is no reason to apply any special significance to numbers found in the Bible and the those exceptions are noted by the Bible itself. Ed, applauds to you for an excellent and reasonable note concerning numbers in the Bible. You have kept the subject in proper persective, pointing out wisely that the Bible itself tells us when numbers have any special meaning. We have no business running around looking for additional meanings -- meanings that are solely a product of man's imagination and not God's revelation. Numerologists tread a tight and potentially dangerous rope. --Hank
