Hello Ken, Here is what you had written: ************************** [Ephes. 3:16 (ESV) that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,] .....In your inner being. Do you know how that happens? When you see it [with your spiritual eyes] you will understand it is His power of Himself in you functioning and not power that He gives you...And no you are not made into a robot because the Spirit is always subject to the Prophet. 1 Cor. 14:32 (NASB) and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; ************************** Because you wrote "it is His power of Himself in you functioning and not power that He gives you" it appears you are saying that He both empowers us and doesn't empower us. These are mutually exclusive. Would you clear up the dilemma? Steve |

[Because you wrote "it is His power of Himself in you functioning and not power that He gives you" it appears you are saying that He both empowers us and doesn't empower us. These are mutually exclusive. Would you clear up the dilemma?] Because we are called to live BY the faith of Christ. [not many do. They live by their own "fuzzy feelings" and not faith not placed IN Christ Jesus] Therefore it is Him-His power within, aside from my will, except that I will His will to function in me and By me. It's called "abandonment". Oswald Chambers, whom you don't read explains it quite nicely. Perhaps you might reconsider. Here's and excerpt to kick start you. January 1st. LET US KEEP TO THE POINT "My eager desire and hope being that I may never feel ashamed, but that now as ever I may do honour to Christ in my own person by fearless courage." Philippians 1:20 (MOFFATT) My Utmost for His Highest. "My eager desire and hope being that I may never feel ashamed." We shall all feel very much ashamed if we do not yield to Jesus on the point He has asked us to yield to Him. Paul says - "My determination is to be my utmost for His Highest." To get there is a question of will, not of debate nor of reasoning, but a surrender of will, an absolute and irrevocable surrender on that point. An overweening consideration for ourselves is the thing that keeps us from that decision, though we put it that we are considering others. When we consider what it will cost others if we obey the call of Jesus, we tell God He does not know what our obedience will mean. Keep to the point; He does know. Shut out every other consideration and keep yourself before God for this one thing only - My Utmost for His Highest. I am determined to be absolutely and entirely for Him and for Him alone. My Undeterredness for His Holiness. "Whether that means life or death, no matter!" (v.21.) Paul is determined that nothing shall deter him from doing exactly what God wants. God's order has to work up to a crisis in our lives because we will not heed the gentler way. He brings us to the place where He asks us to be our utmost for Him, and we begin to debate; then He produces a providential crisis where we have to decide - for or against, and from that point the "Great Divide" begins. If the crisis has come to you on any line, surrender your will to Him absolutely and irrevocably. "My Utmost for His Highest" http://www.myutmost.org/cgi-bin/today.cgi |

Hello Ken, [Because we are called to live BY the faith of Christ. [not many do. It's called "abandonment".] I agree that we are to live by faith IN Christ (not by faith OF Christ). And I understand that in my weakness He is made strong. So if you are saying that we should allow Christ to work through us freely, then I agree. However, that doen't change the fact that we are strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us as in Eph 3:16. Steve |

I agree that we are to live by faith IN Christ (not by faith OF Christ). How so since His faith is the Faith and the ONLY Faith that pleases the Father? Show me your works and you show me your faith. Without His faith, the Mind of Christ, from you your works to please the Father remain in you with your misplaced affections. How did Paul state it... "It is no longer I that live but Christ lives in me..." [First exp.in Jn 20.22] Paul was successful...We should be also. Don't you believe that. Acts 2 is the "coming upon" of the Holy Spirit...Not the indwelling. Acts 2 is for the enablement of Jn 20.22. Paul knew that more than anyone aside from Peter, Phillip, James, and John.. |

Hello Ken, [How so since His faith is the Faith and the ONLY Faith that pleases the Father?] I would say the faith Christ exhibited allowed Him to do all that the Father had asked of Him including the work on the cross. To say that ONLY Christ's faith pleases the Father is incorrect. Hebrews 11 is full of people whose faith pleased the Father. [Without His faith, the Mind of Christ, from you your works to please the Father remain in you with your misplaced affections.] This makes no sense to me. Is that what you were refering to in the partial quote of Gal 2:20? [Acts 2 is the "coming upon" of the Holy Spirit...Not the indwelling.] The Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 2:3), filled them (Acts 2:4), and baptized them (Acts 1:5). How could they not have been indwelt at that time? Steve |

[The Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 2:3), filled them (Acts 2:4), and baptized them (Acts 1:5). How could they not have been indwelt at that time?] They had to be...they were before hand. John 20.22, remember? |
