1 | Was lazarus in heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 82591 | ||
By your claiming that Lazarus was resurrected by Jesus, “he actually did die and Jesus did resurect him”, doesn’t that contradict Rev. 1:5? Rev. 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, This verse says that Jesus was the first begotten from the dead. If Lazarus was resurrected, then he couldn’t die again and he would live forever with that body that was resurrected and flesh and blood would inherit eternal life, which is a false statement. 1 Cor. 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. I believe that Lazarus wasn’t resurrected, but instead he was resuscitated. I also believe that he later, unbeknown to us, died again and is now waiting along with the rest of the departed saints for the final calling out where the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thes. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: My two cents worth, CDBJ |

I think that for purpose of clarification a good understanding of the word death should come into focus. The word for death in the Koine Greek is the word THANATOS and it meant separation. Example, physical death would be your soul separated from your body. Spiritual death would be separation from God, etc. It is my understanding that what Jesus was saying, John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. This sickness is not for the eternal purpose of separating the soul from the body but for the purpose of glorifying the Son of God and to show just exactly who he is. This is the way I see it, CDBJ |
