OK, I went to the fountain of truth itself, kcm.org/, which is Kenny Copeland's official website. I did a quick scan of the numerous articles that appear on this web site, most of them written by Copeland or by his wife. And I decided to read one all the way through. Here are some excerpts: [1] "Jesus came to earth as a man for one reason: to recapture the authority that Satan had stolen through Adam's disobedience in the garden." (And all this time I've been believing what the Bible says about the sovereignty of God! And that Jesus came to the earth as the Savior of those who believe in Him.) [2] "It is not enough for us simply to accept Jesus work at Calvary." (Kenny, please tell us why Christ's death is insufficient). [3] As a believer, you have accepted the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus at Calvary. Therefore, you are a part of His body and are seated with Him in that heavenly place, equipped with the same power, the same authority that He has." (Wow! Thanks, Kenny, for letting me know that I'm now equal in power and authority to God. I bet I could leap over tall buildings in a single bound, if I half tried. Wow!) [4] "YOU are the one in authority. YOU put off the old man. YOU put on the new man." (OK, with such a YOU-centered theology as this, Kenny, I don't suppose I have any more need of God, do I?) ...... Now, call what I have said or what Radioman has said about this charlatan an attack if you wish. Call it whatever you like. I really don't care. But I will never defend any quack who endeavors to dump his heretical garbage on the public, no matter with what dazzling trappings it may be wrapped or how feely-goody it may seem. Copeland is a perfect example of what happens to theology when it is perverted from biblical, God-centered theology to man-centered theology. --Hank

Hank: It may be that the only thing more foolish than blindly following the teachings of some blind guide would be to follow that person without having bothered to study what he/she actually teachs and believes. After all, if one doesn't know the teachings of Dr. Sounding Brass or Professor Tinkling Cymbal, then one will have nothing by which to be offended or disillusioned. Radioman2 |

Radioman: How true indeed! In 15:7-9, 12-14 Matthew gives an account of an incident that happened during Jesus' ministry: Verse 7 begins with Jesus addressing the scribes and Pharisees: "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men.'" Then in verse 12 we hear the response of Jesus' disciples: "Then His disciples came and said to Him, 'Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?'" [So the truth, then as now, was offensive to some!] Jesus' response in vss. 12,13 was as follows: "But He answered and said, 'Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.'" ..... So then it's best for Jesus' true disciples to observe, interpret, and decide. Observe: what is this Kenny or that Benny really teaching? Interpret: Is what is being taught in full compliance with the teachings of Scipture? Decide: Do I want to follow sound doctrine or permit myself to be swept away by the glitter and pomp of sensationalism?..... By the way, the forum owes you a debt of gratitude for taking the initiative to expose the lies of some of these more notorious Drs. Sounding Brass and Professors Tinkling Cymbal. I trust and pray that what is being said here on this topic will serve as a wake-up call for a number of active users as well as passive readers of this forum who heretofore have chosen to defend the false doctrine of deceptive teachers. "Back to the Bible" is a clarion call that is and forever will be appropriate. Failure to hear and heed the call bears an awesome weight. It can impact us for all eternity. --Hank
