Kaydulce... You've been given some solid advice by both Emmaus and Angel Messenger: Get thee to a church! A church that exalts Christ and preaches the word of God. As a tender young plant needs fertile soil in which to establish firm roots to anchor it and nourish it in order for it to grow, so the young Christian vitally needs anchorage in Christ's church, for there he will be fed the word of God and be encouraged and strengthened by the fellowship of the saints. You can't possibly avail yourself of this kind of experience by surfing the internet, no matter how good the web site may be. Cyberspace cannot replace the space of a church pew! You are a new believer. I would not recommend this forum to you. In it you will find far too much disagreement and divisiveness on theological, doctrinal, denominational and other issues that are more likely to confuse you than instruct and edify you. Read your Bible in a translation that is clearest to you. (Suggested picks: New International Version, New Living Translation, English Standard Version, New King James Version, New American Standard Bible). Many new Christians have found the gospel of John to be a good place to begin one's Bible reading . Read a Psalm or two every day. It's been called "God's Songbook" and always lifts the spirit and brings strength and encouragement as you read and meditate on the eternal words of praise to our loving God. Pray, always pray. And, again, dear young Christian, please seek and ask God to help you find a church home. My prayer for you is that you will grow and flourish in your faith, and that you may become a beacon to others, that they too may be led from darkness to the true Light as you have been. --Hank
2 | Internet to replace church? | Bible general Archive 1 | RSB | 74845
Hank, I agree that the internet cannot replace the church. I get allot out of it but by the same token it tends to be too easy, and at times can make one lazy to the point of thinking they don't need to attend a church. This is a confession. This is where I've been for months now. I know I belong back at my home church but just can't muster up the will. Could you give me some encouraging words? Outside of the Lord's conviction I do need a fellow believer to give me a nudge. The reason I did'nt suggest finding a church to Kaydulce is because I felt like a hypocrite. Russ

Russ, please forgive me if this interjection is inappropriate. I found in my life that when I become (relapse into) selfish having myself in mind and not others, it is easy for me to look to my comfort. ( Too tired for church, other things to do, ect. ) What drives me to go to church is the reality that as I matured in the Lord and realized He wanted me to be a vessel for service. This is in no way vanity. It is the sacrificial giving of yourself as a vessel of service for others. You are placed in that body for a reason and when you are not there, there is a void. When you read Corinthians about gifts, Paul says that each of us is called to in some way edify the body. When I was a child I thought the ultimate joy was receiving. When I grew up I discovered the ultimate JOY is giving! Go back walking through the door praying "God I am here to serve. Use me!" One more thing. I heard a sermon once and the pastor said to unclinch your hand and give God what he is asking for, and leave your hand open for His blessing in return. When we give because we love, we receive because HE loves. God bless |
