1 | Where do angels sing in the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | kalos | 31438
Correct me -- with a clear and plain verse of Scripture -- if I am wrong, but I do not find one verse of the Bible that SAYS angels sing or sang. Now people can dream, speculate, invent, extrapolate, etc. But if there is any plain verse in the Bible that SAYS angel(s) sing or sang, show us the book, the chapter and the verse where it says that. Let people either put up or do the other thing. |

Greetings, Kalos! I most definitely agree with you there! And you are absolutely right: one would be 'hard-pressed' to produce one single verse of Scripture that states that angels sing or sang. :-) Grace to you, Makarios |

Thanks, Nolan: Indeed one would be hard pressed to find a verse that does not exist. However, some folks are so "optimistic" that they will not give up their search for that which is unfindable. Fact has never dissuaded the convinced. :-) Grace to you, kalos |

4 | Where do angels sing in the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | Ray | 31560
My dear friends, The fact of the matter is, no verse can be found where anyone can be found singing anything, angel or human person. Quote me the verse and the words that people were "singing" rather than "saying". In any case, I'll keep on singing and praising, whether you guys are convinced or not.:) 2 Chronicles 20:21. Greetings Ray! In the Greek, there are 12 verses which mention "singing" 14 times. They are: Mt. 26:30 - "When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives." Mk. 14:26 - "When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives." Acts 16:25 - "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them." Rom. 15:9 - " so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: ‘‘Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name.”" 1 Cor. 14:15 - "So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind." Eph. 5:19 - "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord," Col. 3:16 - " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Heb. 2:12 - "He says, ‘‘I will declare your name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises.”" James 5:13 - "Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise." Rev. 5:9 - "And they sang a new song: ‘‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Rev. 14:3 - "And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth." Rev. 15:3 - "and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: ‘‘Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages." The Greek words are 'humneo' (5214), 'psallo' (5567), and 'ado' (103). But, these all refer to humans! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, interesting information on singing; thank you; I never realized before that there are that many references to singing in the New Testament. And in the Old Testament, an entire book (collection, really) -- the Psalms -- has been called the hymnbook of the Bible, and rightly so I believe. Many were set to music and sung back then, and some of our most beloved hymns in the Christian era are based solidly on the eternally beautiful Psalms. Selah! Good post, Tim. Soli Deo Gloria! --Hank
