Is there a reference to angels singing in the Bible? A dear friend commented that when we refer to people who sing like angels,or angels singing, we do so without any Biblical support for such statements. We would appreciate what you have to say about this. | ||||||

Correct me -- with a clear and plain verse of Scripture -- if I am wrong, but I do not find one verse of the Bible that SAYS angels sing or sang. Now people can dream, speculate, invent, extrapolate, etc. But if there is any plain verse in the Bible that SAYS angel(s) sing or sang, show us the book, the chapter and the verse where it says that. Let people either put up or do the other thing. |

Hi kalos, Here we are again, eh? O.K. The best I can come up with is Revelation 15:1-6 where between "seven angels who had seven plagues" in verse 1 and 6, we read the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb which they sang. Other than that just be aware of how closely connected praise is with singing in the Scriptures. Psalm 148, "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts!...Praise the Lord!" Psalm 149:1, "Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones." If the angels came out of that sanctuary, that temple of the tabernacle with unused vocal cords then they had not glorified His name. Revelation 15:4, "Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou alone art holy;" |

Hello, Ray! You come close -- close, but no cigar. :-) In Rev. 15:3 (KJV) what it actually SAYS is "*they* sing the song of Moses". I could argue that the antecedent of the pronoun they is "them that had gotten the victory over the beast", but I won't. I would be reluctant to build an entire doctrine on one and only one verse of Scripture. "EVERY FACT IS TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE TESTIMONY OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES" (2 Cor. 13:1 NASB). But, what do you say, let's not break up an old friendship over a thing like this, OK? :-) I appreciate you, brother. Grace and peace to you, kalos |
