are you saying the cambridge dictionary nows what the scriptures are and jesus does not?My friend there is a distinction between the scriptures and writings of Paul, peter, john, luke, mark, acts, and so on are writings ,again which are inspired! But they are not the scriptures.Read John 5:39 again. At that time Matthew through Revelation were not written yet!My friend that is why when hanging on the cross he said "it is finished".Meaning everything said by the Law and prophets concerning himself was done!Luke 24:44..also read Hebrews 9:16,17...No is saying these writings are not inspired or belitttling them in any way.Simple and plain jesus talking to the pharisees said."you search the scriptures looking for eternal life, but they testify of me."Read Luke the 4th chapter 17:21.as a matter of fact paul called jesus the "true gospel".Paul knew he never equated his writings as the scriptures.but they were most definetly inspired!

Hi JMSCOTT I believe you have a misunderstanding of the meaning of the word "inspired". It appears you are saying that inspiration is no more than getting an idea of what needs to be written. Whereas NT usage indicates that the letters, etc. are just as surely God's words as if He had spoken them aloud, thus making the NT equal in weight to anything spoken of in the OT. The difference you are trying to make by saying only the OT is "Scripture" is destructive. It inimates that Paul, Peter, John, et al were just writing words that have no purpose except to be suggestions we could toss away if we so desired. Please reconsider your thinking. Steve |

where did i say that they carried no weight.please read my info again.I used jesus words he spoke i never once said what i think...unlike you telling me i have a misudetstanding.I have never once been to a trained school for bible studies,or theology or what have you..but does that matter? He say's he give his spirit to whom he wants.Just because something is not familiar with your training you received or your train of thought...it my ruffle feathers. You can get just as much info on jesus in the OT as in the NT....read Luke 24:27,44,and 45.I ask you again, when jesus was telling these things to his followers were matthew- revelations written yet?NO..Paul was picked by jesus himself to be the next apostle that is why he told paul why are you persecuting (me)on the road of damascus. His writiings and the rest of the writings at no time were written by man but was born along by holy spirit!of course they carried weight. So maybe you misuderstand what jesus was saying the scriptures were.but they were not written when jesus was in the flesh!Somethings it takes the father to reveal it to us.Jesus asked his disciples who do the people say the "Son of man i am?..Peters say's you are the son on the living God."jesus say's happy are you peter because flesh and blood did not reveal it too you but my father in heaven did.sometimes Steve and answer comes from our father.and not what you read!Peace and blessings.

Hi JMSCOTT I simply don't understand why you are making this distinction. Hank has done a much better job than I in explaining "scriptures," so I'll not continue. Steve |
