1 | What does the word "these" reference? | 2 Pet 1:4 | Morant61 | 163330 | ||
Greetings Mommapbs! Some take 'these' as a reference to His own 'glory' and 'excellence' at the end of v. 3. However, Greek pronouns normally agree with their antecedents in both gender and number. 'These', in v. 4, is a neuter, plural pronoun. The only neuter, plural noun in v. 3 is the word 'everything'. So, I would argue that 'these' refers to the 'everything' given to us in v. 3. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
