One is saved by God's Grace and if I may Illustrate: You are on a sinking ship (sin). And you spot a life raft (Grace). So, you jump (faith) into the life raft. Are you saved because you jumped or because there was a life raft? Because, there was a life raft. You jumped out of the need. It is the same with the doctrine of Baptisms. Would you be saved if you didn't jump? The merit is not in the jumping.

I have no idea what that illustration meant, I'm not trying to be funny, it just doesn't make sense. I'll try to interject a thought and see if it applies. How about by faith you get baptized into Christ(jump into the raft). There now that makes sense.
