Emmaus what do you do with Luke 23:46 ... His Spirit went to His Father.
2 | Why did Jesus Go to Hell | 1 Pet 3:19 | Emmaus | 109419
Searcher, First I note that Luke 23:46 says "Into your our hands I commit my spirit." It does not say "He went to heaven.", nor does it say exactly where his spirit went. Is not God omnipresent? How do you deal with all the other passages cited and with the ones below? Ps 16:10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. Ps 18:5 The cords of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. Ps 30:3 O LORD, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. Ps 31:17 Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I call upon You; Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol. Ps 49:14 As sheep they are appointed for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; And the upright shall rule over them in the morning, And their form shall be for Sheol to consume So that they have no habitation. Ps 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, For He will receive me. Selah. Ps 55:15 Let death come deceitfully upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst. Ps 86:13 For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. Ps 88:3 For my soul has had enough troubles, And my life has drawn near to Sheol. Ps 89:48 What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah. Ps 116:3 The cords of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow. Ps 139:8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. Emmaus |

Matt 5:16, 48; 6:1, 9; 7:11, 21; 10:32-33; Mark 11:25 ... Where is the Father? Is not God omnipresent ... cite Scripure. Do the verses you cited say it is Christ? |

4 | Why did Jesus Go to Hell | 1 Pet 3:19 | Emmaus | 109461
Searcher, "Where is the Father?" I presume you want the answer "Our Father who art in Heaven." But Acts 17:28 also says "In him we live and move and have our being." And Psalm 139:8 says "If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there." "Is not God omnipresent ... cite Scritpure." See above citations." "Do the verses you cited say it is Christ?" Acts 2:25-27; 13:34 cites Psalm 16:9-10 in reference to Jesus and even says that it refers to Jesus, not David. Of course if you do not accept "sleep" as a euphemism for death as it is often used and if you do not believe that being raised from the dead is the same as being raised from among the dead but merely means being raised from the tomb, then we should end our discussion now having agreed to disagree. Searcher, Never been there. But I know it wasn't or isn't heaven. How about just telling me what your take on the whole subject is. Emmaus |
