1 | Are there stillborn Christians? | 1 Pet 2:2 | CDBJ | 16693
Charis, I know that there is no such thing as a stillbore Christian. Anything that the Lord does is perfect. I put this in the form of a question because it looks this way many times with people who go forward in some service to jump through someone’s psychological hoop. A lot of people think that they are saved because they walked an aisle or raised there hand or they did this that, or the other thing. All of these things are works if they didn’t truly trust in Christ at the time they did them. I ask a person one day how he knew that he was saved, his answer was that he went forward in a Billy Graham service, so therefore he must be. As far as the Bible goes, he didn’t even know John 3:16, and he was supposedly saved 15 years ago. It, pardon the expression, looked to me like he was stillborn! PS (I liked your comment, it sounds like we are on the same page.) CDBJ

Dear CDBJ, Friend, I am sorry if it sounded as though I was directing my comments to you, or even scolding you. This was not my intention, and I apologize to you. I have read your other postings, and know you to be a pious servant of God. I was addressing 'the Forum,' though answering your question. I tend to preach... :-) I, too, have witnessed the 'psychological hoop,' as well as the desire to 'satisfy the person who brought me here' situation. I, personally, prefer more intimate forms of evangelism. Family, children, friends and neighbors are first on my list of 'burdens.' I do participate in church evangelism (to the local area), and once in a while in 'para-church' activities, but it seems to me there is a corollary relationship between distance and efficacy of the Gospel. (especially TV! But don't get me started) I prefaced my comments 'from God's point of view,' but heartily agree with you that many 'Christians' DO appear stillborn from our lowly vantage :-) Yes! Same page, same Book! Blessings in Jesus' name, charis |
