1 | Did Jesus experence real temptation? | Heb 4:15 | wormwood | 164840
Doc, I guess what i was trying to say is this ,If Jesus couldent be tempted, why would Satan go through all that trouble trying to get Jesus to yeild to the temtation? after all Satan walked with God in the garden (EZEKIEL:28-12(Thus saith the lord God;Thou sealest up the sum, full of WISDOM,and perfect in beauty.Thou hast been in eden the garden of God.)so we can conclude by this passage of scripture that Satan is not stuped,in fact in order for him to decive the nations of the world you have to be pretty smart. so it's my guess that he knew that Jesus could yeild to the temption, just like you and I could, but because we have Gods word and the HOLY SPIRIT to guide us and teach us the way,we can have victory over the temption , HOW'S THAT?

Dear Wormword, Okay... but who said that Jesus could not be tempted? Scripture clearly teaches that He was tempted. So says the above verse (Hebrews 4:15). See also Matthew 4:1, etc. Temptation is not simply a matter of victory or defeat. It is a test of quality. Temptation reveals a man's true nature (1 Peter 1:7). By analogy, an assayed brick of gold is worth more than an un-assayed brick of gold. The results of the assay prove the purity of the gold. A brick of pure gold cannot fail the test, but the test is still performed in order to prove its worth to everyone. In addition, we can only infer what Satan was thinking. Although his intelligence is, no doubt, substantial, he is not omniscient. We know that he has been and continues to be mistaken about many things. The great deceiver is a victim of his own deception. In Him, Doc |
