1 | Biblical Inconsistencies? | 2 Tim 2:15 | violist | 124219 | ||
I have been a Christian for a long time now, and the infallibility of the Bible was always one of the ways I defended my faith. Recently, however, I came across Donald Morgan's "Biblical Inconsistencies" as posted on infidels.org (http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/donald_morgan/inconsistencies.shtml). While many of these I recognize and can easily refute, some other ones start to make me wonder. Why would God let so many little problems into his word? |

violist, I can appreciate your wondering and the doubt created by this web-site. My simple advice would be to stay clear of these! Don't let outside (questionable) sources fill your mind with doubt:-) My next question would be: Who is Donald Morgan and what are his credentials? As a parallel, you might want to purchase and or read "Hard Sayings of the Bible". I hope this helps, BradK |

Thanks so much for your reply, Brad. I looked up that book and it sounds like something I'm going to have to purchase. About your advice, I understand that it is unwise to go where dangerous ideas abound (in fact, that is an extremely correct caution); but at the same time, shouldn't truth win any fight? I guess I'm almost hoping that there was some way I could refute the entire list with one perfect, God-inspired argument. Doesn't seem possible, as many points on that list have troubled me before I ever heard of that site. Actually, I am almost hoping that there was some way I could refute the entire SITE with one perfect, God-inspired argument. I think and debate by logic, so the fact that the credentials may be poor doesn't encourage me. It is disturbing that so many conflicting ideas can co-exist, but I suppose that because Satan is still working in this world, falsities will continue to be accepted and beautifully shaped to appear logical... which must be why it does not indeed sacrifice intellectual integrity to abstain from perusing these falsities. At least, I'm hoping that is the case. I guess I have some more studying and praying to do :-). |
