I use the KJV as a main bible. When I study prophecy out of the Old testement. I use the NASB. I also will use the NLT but only as a commentary. I have a NKJV but never use it. I guess just because its in paragraph form. And I like my bible with verses down the side. It just doesn't feel right reading it in paragraph form. :) | ||||||

DarcyA, I've never gotten the hang of the NLT, though a Pastor friend recommends it. I wish I could be married to one version and not feel so polygamist. Or maybe I'm a serial monobiblist! Colin. |

*laughing* I know what you mean, but all versions have their mistakes in them, some more than others. I personally think the best Version is the NASB when it comes to accuracy. Except theyu do run into a problem when it comes to using tenses. I think the next in line is the KJV also NKJV. Although you will also find a few mistakes in that version as well. For example can't think of the verse but its in 1 John that the trinity is plainly mentioned. The only problem with that verse is that its NOT scripture. It doesn't belong there at all. They also have a problem with the word "hell" The NASB is good at translating it correctly (Hades, Shoel, ect) The KJV just translate it as hell or hellfire so you have to go to the strongs and look it up to see which hell is being talked about there. But over all I am in the same boat you are. My "expensive" bibles are all KJV. But I want a tompson chain Bible and having trouble deciding rather I want it in the KJV or NASB. I willl probably end up closing my eyes and picking :) As for the NLT its a good Commentary. Very easy to understand fun reading ect. But its not a study Bible. |
