Dear Robin So ..on the one hand Chrysostom denys sola Scriptura, while on the other he affirms it. "Chrysostom clearly believes in a divine oral tradition that teaches some things, not contained in scripture." and... "Regarding the things I say, I should supply even the proofs, so I will not seem to rely on my own opinions, but rather, prove them with Scripture, so that the matter will remain certain and steadfast." Is it any wonder that not one member of the Forum has yet to accept your argument? Luther was well aware of the divisions that would arise as a result of releasing the Bible in the language of the people. Nevertheless, he believed that keeping them in bondage to a corrupt teaching magesterium as far worse. In the end, it is not the actions of men, which will determine the outcome of history. It will be God’s Sovereign Will. Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Hobbs |
